Austin Peay State University Track and Field has superb day at Vanderbilt Black and Gold Relays

Austin Peay State University Lady Govs - APSUNashville, TN – Sprints led the day for Austin Peay State University track and field at the Black and Gold Relays, hosted by Vanderbilt at the Vanderbilt Track Complex.

Despite cold conditions over the course of the two-day event, Austin Peay athletes performed admirably in a meet chock-full of high-caliber athletes from schools in the Big 10 and SEC, as well as Ohio Valley Conference schools SIU Edwardsville, Tennessee Tech, Tennessee State, Southeast Missouri, UT Martin and Belmont.

APSU Governors Golf heads north to Badger Invitational

 

Austin Peay State University Governors Sports - APSUClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University men’s golf team will head north to play in its third straight tournament in as many weeks as it competes in the 54-hole Badger Invitational, Sunday-Tuesday, at the University Ridge Golf Course.

This will be the first time the Govs have appeared in the Wisconsin-hosted event. They will be one of 14 teams in the tourney. In fact, this is the first home event hosted by the Badgers since holding the Big Ten championship in 2005.

APSU Governors Golf heads to Missouri for prestigious Columbia Regional Preview

 

Austin Peay State University Governors Sports - APSUClarksville, TN – So much for easing into the 2013-14 men’s golf season for Austin Peay State University.

A few short months after a record-setting campaign that included an Ohio Valley Conference tournament championship and a program-best seventh-place tie in an NCAA Regional, the Governors will travel to Columbia, MO, to play in the Columbia Regional Preview, hosted by the University of Missouri.

Austin Peay Governors Football are on the road this weekend to face No. 15/18 Virginia Tech

Austin Peay State University GovernorsBlacksburg, VA – In the last three years Austin Peay has played Big 10 (Wisconsin) and Big East (Cincinnati) programs for the first time in University history. This weekend the Governors will play an Atlantic Coast Conference school for the first time when they travel to Blacksburg, VA, to face Virginia Tech.

Kickoff will occur 12:34pm, CDT from Lane Stadium, considered one of most difficult places in the country to play for visiting teams. For a second straight week, APSU will have a game broadcast by ESPN3. John Sadak and John Gregory will have the call while Rontina McCann will serve as sidelines reporter.

The Final Horne: Four-team College Football Playoff not the best format, but it’s better than nothing

Clarksville, TN – With that said, college football made a big step with the announcement that its expected to employ a seeded four-team playoff model when the current and generally hated BCS ends after the 2014 season.

The announcement came Wednesday night that the anticipated playoff would include the bowl system and that a host city would bid for the championship game.
