Clarksville Police Department now fully deploying Body Worn Cameras

 

Clarksville Chief of Police and 290 Officers now using Body Worn Cameras

Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville, TN – The Clarksville Police Department has reached full deployment of its body-worn camera program.

All 291 sworn law enforcement officers, including the Chief of Police, are using the body worn cameras during law enforcement-related interactions with the public. Some administrative staff positions that do not have daily public interaction will not be issued BWCs.

The Clarksville Police Department remained on track with its implementation program since the receipt of a federal grant and matching City funding in 2017.

The survey can be completed online at www.cityofclarksville.com/cpdbodycamerasurvey from March 1st-31st, 2019. Citizens also may pick up and return a paper copy of the survey at the following locations.

Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville, TN – The Clarksville Police Department reports that the fielding of the body-worn cameras is progressing smoothly and on schedule.

The first BWCs cameras were fielded on October 29th, 2018 to the handpicked “super users”. Since then, patrol officers who were already trained on BWC departmental policy, received additional training from the “super users” on the hardware and software associated with the use of the BWCs.

City of Clarksville - Clarksville, TNClarksville, TN – Clarksville Police and the City of Clarksville are ready to start the first phase of live implementation of the police body-worn camera program.

The first live fielding of body-worn cameras will take place October 29th. 2018.  They will be worn by handpicked “super users” who have completed training on the camera equipment and associated software.  Prosecutors also have received training on the system.

Clarksville Police Department makes progress on Body-Worn Cameras

Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville, TN – Clarksville Police Department and the City of Clarksville are making steady progress in implementing a police body-worn camera program, with training and system installation starting this month and full deployment of the system expected to be completed in February 2019.

Last fall, the City was awarded a $337,500 grant from the U.S. Department of Justice, with an equal match approved by the Clarksville City Council, to begin equipping Clarksville Police Department officers with body-worn camera.
