Nashville SoundsTucson, AZ – Starting pitcher Seth McClung threw seven shutout innings to guide the Nashville Sounds to a 2-1 victory over the Tucson Padres on Sunday night at Kino Stadium.

In his best pitching performance and third quality start of the season, the 31-year-old McClung (1-4) surrendered five hits while walking and striking out four in 104 pitches (62 strikes) for his first victory. Only two of McClung’s five hits allowed left the infield.

Sounds Sweep Zephyrs With 3-2 Win

 

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds swept the New Orleans Zephyrs with a 3-2 victory on Tuesday evening at Greer Stadium in the finale of a four-game set. The win was Nashville’s fifth straight, which matches the club’s longest of the season from June 2nd-6th.

The sweep was Nashville’s first of the season and last since the Sounds swept New Orleans from April 24th-27th, 2010 at Zephyr Field.

The victory gave the Sounds a 12-4 season series win over the Zephyrs, which is also the best mark against an opponent since Nashville went 12-4 against the Round Rock Express (AAA-Astros) in 2007.

Sounds Win 8-7 In New Orleans With Go-Ahead Pinch-Hit Homer By Mike Rivera

 

Nashville SoundsMetairie, LA – With two outs in the top of the eighth inning, pinch-hitter Mike Rivera belted a go-ahead two-run homer over the left field wall to give the Nashville Sounds an 8-7 win over the New Orleans Zephyrs on Thursday night at Zephyr Field.

The win snapped a three-game losing streak for Nashville (7-8), and marked the first come-from-behind win this season.  Nashville scored the first six runs of the game, but allowed seven unanswered by the Zephyrs before Rivera’s late homer.

Zephyrs Edge Sounds In 14 Innings To Avoid Sweep

 

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – New Orleans catcher Brad Davis drew a bases-loaded walk from Sounds reliever Zack Segovia in the top of the fourteenth inning to give the visiting Zephyrs a 4-3 victory over Nashville on a gorgeous Sunday afternoon at Greer Stadium.

With the win, New Orleans avoided a season-opening sweep by the Sounds (3-1).

Sounds Earn 2nd Straight Win To Open Season, 7-1 Over Z’s

 

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds received another solid effort from their pitching staff to go along with an Eric Farris three-run homer in posting a 7-1 victory over the New Orleans Zephyrs on Friday evening at Greer Stadium.

Right-hander Mark Rogers, the top-rated prospect in the Milwaukee Brewers’ farm system, made his first start of the year and took a no-decision. The 25-year-old allowed one run on four hits over 4 2/3 innings of work. He walked five batters and struck out five in his 95-pitch effort, finishing one out shy of his first career Triple-A win.

Sounds Take Series Opener from Zephyrs, 10-3

 

Waters’ Quality Start Leads Nashville To 4th Straight Victory

Nashville, TN — The Nashville Sounds won their fourth straight game on Thursday evening at historic Greer Stadium, posting a 10-3 victory over the New Orleans Zephyrs in front of 7,790 fans in the opener of a three-game series.

Left-hander Chris Waters (5-4) turned in his team-leading eighth quality start for the Sounds to snap a seven-start winless stretch. He allowed three runs (two earned) on four hits over 6 2/3 innings of work. The southpaw lowered his rotation-leading ERA to 3.31 with the victorious effort.

Center fielder Norris Hopper led the offensive charge for Nashville, turning in a 4-for-5 evening with three runs scored and three stolen bases. Johnny Raburn belted a pinch-hit, three-run homer for the Sounds late in the contest.

Nashville (44-36) improved to 5-0 against New Orleans this season and went 8-for-13 with runners in scoring position on the night. «Read the rest of this article»
