Nashville Sounds roll over Omaha Storm Chasers, 6-1

 

Nashville SoundsOmaha, NE – The Nashville Sounds took down the Omaha Storm Chasers Wednesday night at Werner Park, 6-1. Nashville’s Matt Davidson and Jett Bandy hit back-to-back home runs and Wes Benjamin logged another quality start to lead the Sounds to victory.

One night after reaching safely all five times, Davidson stayed locked in at the plate with this 31st home run of the season and three more RBI to bring his total to 94. He had two of Nashville’s 14 hits against Omaha pitching.

Davidson helped the Sounds build an early lead when his double into the left-center gap in the top of the first scored Andy Ibanez and Patrick Wisdom to make it a 2-0 game.

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – Ben Bracewell tossed seven shutout innings to lead the Nashville Sounds to a 5-0 win over the Round Rock Express in front of 7,923 at First Tennessee Park Sunday night.

The right-hander limited the Express to just three hits and two walks while recording five strikeouts in his fifth win of the season. The dominant outing came off the heels of six scoreless frames in his last start.

Bracewell was the benefactor of some early offense as the Sounds plated three runs in the first inning. With one out in the opening inning, Josh Phegley and Yairo Munoz collected back-to-back singles to start a rally. Joey Wendle brought in the first run of the night with a bullet to right field, plating Phegley to make it 1-0.

Nashville SoundsPapillion, NE – The Omaha Storm Chasers held off the Nashville Sounds and grabbed a 4-2 win in game one of a four-game series at Werner Park Monday night.

Nashville (29-26) collected 10 hits and had the lead off man on five different times, but went 0-for-11 with runners in scoring position in a night of wasted opportunity.

Omaha got an early edge when Jorge Soler belted a solo home run to start the bottom of the second inning. Two batters later, Sounds starter Daniel Gossett surrendered another homer – a solo blast by Bubba Starling to give the Storm Chasers an early 2-0 lead.

Nashville SoundsPapillion, NE – The Omaha Storm Chasers held off a late surge from the Nashville Sounds in a sloppy 6-4 win Sunday afternoon at Werner Park.

In a game that featured 12 walks, 3 hit batters and 2 errors, Omaha hung on to even the series after Nashville scored three runs in the ninth inning.

Trailing 6-1 going into the ninth, Renato Nunez started the rally with a solo homer to right-center field – his 11th blast of the season.

Ryon Healy followed with a double and was quickly brought in when Rangel Ravelo launched the second home run of the inning – this time a two-run shot to trim the deficit to 6-4.

Nashville Sounds roll to 13-5 win over Omaha Storm Chasers

 

Nashville SoundsPapillion, NE – The Nashville Sounds clubbed three home runs including a grand slam from Joey Wendle on their way to a 13-5 win over the Omaha Storm Chasers Saturday night at Werner Park.

The scoring was fast and furious for the Sounds who won for the 18th time in their last 20 games. They’re 34-21 overall and lead the American South Division by 4.5 games.

A base hit from Chad Pinder and walks issued to Renato Nunez and Andrew Lambo loaded the bases in the first for Rangel Ravelo. The first baseman made the walks hurt when he rifled a base hit up the middle to plate the first two runs of the game.

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds (40-41) dropped a tough 11-1 decision to the American Conference Southern Division leading New Orleans Zephyrs (43-37) at Greer Stadium on Thursday night. The 10-run deficit is the most allowed by the Sounds this season.

Nashville starter Ariel Pena struggled with his command in a brief three inning start where he allowed seven earned runs on six hits while walking four and throwing five wild pitches. The Zephyrs hit Pena early and often, jumping out to a 3-0 lead after the top of the first.

Nashville SoundsMetairie, LA – A pair of New Orleans hurlers combined on a four-hit shutout as the Zephyrs blanked the Nashville Sounds, 3-0, on Monday afternoon in the finale of a four-game series.

Z’s left-hander Brian Flynn (5-3) held the Sounds to four singles over eight scoreless innings to earn the victory. The southpaw issued one walk and struck out three Nashville batters. Chaz Roe inherited a pair of baserunners in the ninth but work flawlessly out of the jam to complete the shutout.

Six Of Last Nine Losses Have Come By One Run

Nashville SoundsMetairie, LA – The Nashville Sounds dropped their third straight game on Saturday evening, falling 3-2 to New Orleans at Zephyr Field.

Eugenio Velez, who went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles, and Sean Halton drove in the two Nashville runs.

The Sounds took a 2-0 lead in the top of the third inning against New Orleans starter Alex Sanabia.

Irving Falu led off with a bunt single and hustled home when Velez followed with an RBI double off the center field wall. Two batters later, Halton roped a run-scoring single to right to bring in Velez.

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds picked up a pair of victories in Wednesday’s doubleheader against the New Orleans Zephyrs, winning the first seven-inning contest, 1-0, on Mike Fiers’ complete-game shutout, and the nightcap 3-2.

The two victories move Nashville (14-12) into a first-place tie with Round Rock in the Pacific Coast League’s American Southern Division. The night also marks Nashville’s first doubleheader sweep since July 14th, 2011 against Albuquerque.

Nashville’s R.J. Seidel Fans Seven In Winning Effort

Nashville SoundsMetairie, LA – After heading into the All-Star Break having lost nine of their last 10 games, the Nashville Sounds got off on the right foot Thursday night at Zephyr Field, winning their first game back by a 3-1 margin over the New Orleans Zephyrs.

After the one-hour and 48-minute rain delay preceding the game, Sounds catcher Robinzon Diaz, 2-for-4, recorded Nashville’s first hit of the night in the fourth inning with a single to centerfield. The 29-year-old gave the Sounds a two-run lead in the following inning on a two-out single to right-centerfield that scored two runs.
