Tennessee, Cross Creeks NWR 2020-2021 Hunting Regulations Available

 

U.S. Fish and Wildlife ServiceNashville, TN – The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service announces hunt program information for Tennessee and Cross Creeks National Wildlife Refuge in West Tennessee.

The new hunt brochures for each refuge are now available online and at refuge offices, kiosks and area sporting goods stores.

Tennessee National Wildlife Refuge provides hunting opportunities on all three of its units for white-tailed deer, raccoon, wild turkey, squirrel and resident Canada goose. Cross Creeks provides hunts for all the above species except raccoon.

Tennessee State Parks announces 2016 Vacation Tours

 

Tennessee State ParksNashville, TN – Tennessee State Parks is offering nine vacation packages in 2016 to suit all types of outdoor enthusiasts and skill levels. Guests can experience guided tours through eight State Parks across Tennessee and several Natural Areas and Wildlife Refuges.

The year’s tours begin with a Winter Waterfall Tour at Fall Creek Falls and South Cumberland State Park on February 22nd-24th. Focusing on the beauty and history of these majestic falls, guests can experience what a winter water wonderland looks like.

The hikes will total roughly seven miles of moderate to strenuous terrain. The cost is $269.00 per person and includes all taxes, gratuities, meals, transportation and lodging at the Fall Creek Falls Inn. Call 800.250.8610 for reservations.

Cross Creeks reopens

 

Cross Creeks National Wildlife RefugeStewart County, TN – After being closed since the flood, the Cross Creeks National Wildlife Refuge was able to re-open Friday, May 20th at 11:00am. However, some roads and areas are still off limits due to flooding, washing out,  and debris.

The entrances to Cross Creeks are now clear and the refuge is back open for public use.

The Cumberland River crests at Dover

 

Sandbags protecting the Surrender House with the Cumberland River within 20 feet.Dover, TN – Early Wednesday morning, May 5th, the Cumberland River crested at Dover, TN at a level of 372.9 feet. The river is now slowly starting to fall. During the May 2010 floods, the Cumberland River at Dover crested at 374 feet.  The National Weather Service still has Dover under a flood warning until 10:45am Saturday.

Several roads, in the low laying areas, are closed due to high water. One of these roads is Bumpus Mills road, right off Hwy 79, just outside of Dover,  next to the Pit Stop Market.
