Tennessee Vols Football begins preparing for Gator Bowl

 

Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsKnoxville, TN – The Tennessee Vols football team began bowl game preparation on Friday on the indoor fields at the Anderson Training Center.
 
Inclement weather kept the Vols inside, but the team was still chomping at the bit to put the pads on following a nearly two-week layoff for finals. Tennessee will take a five-game win streak into the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl, where they will face an Indiana Hoosiers squad, coming off an 8-4 campaign, on January 2nd at 7:00pm at the Jacksonville Jaguars’ TIAA Bank Field.

Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsKnoxville, TN – Tennessee Vols Football closes its road slate for the 2019 season on Saturday with a visit to Columbia, MO, to take on the Missouri Tigers.

The game is slated for a 6:30pm (CT) kick, with Vols entering the eighth iteration of the series on a three-game win streak and fresh off of a bye week.

Saturday’s outing will be broadcast on the SEC Network with Tom Hart (PxP), Jordan Rodgers (analyst), and Cole Cubelic (sideline) on the call.

Tennessee Vols Football comes back in second half to defeat Kentucky, 17-13

 

Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsLexington, KY – A goal-line stand on fourth-and-goal by the Tennessee Vols football defense sealed a 17-13 Tennessee victory over the Kentucky at Kroger Field on Saturday night.
 
After Tennessee stifled three consecutive Wildcat runs from inside the 6-yard line, Kentucky quarterback Lynn Bowden Jr. ran for the end zone on fourth-down and was stopped by the Vols’ Daniel Bituli and Ja’Quain Blakely with 1:17 remaining.

Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsKnoxville, TN – The Tennessee Vols football team looks to pick up its third consecutive win and first road victory on Saturday against SEC East foe Kentucky.

Saturday’s contest will be televised on SEC Network with Tom Hart (PxP), Jordan Rodgers (analyst), and Cole Cubelic (sideline) on the call.
 
Fans can also listen to Tennessee’s official radio broadcast on the Vol Network (WIVK-FM 107.7) and satellite radio (XM Ch. 380, Internet Ch. 969). Bob Kesling (PxP), Tim Priest (analyst) and Brent Hubbs (analyst) will call the action all season long.

This weekend’s contest is set to kick off at 6:00pm CT and will wrap up UT’s 2019 non-conference slate. The Vols (3-5, 2-3 SEC) have won eight straight November non-conference games heading into Saturday’s matchup with the Blazers (6-1, 3-1 C-USA).

Tennessee Vols Football’s defense shuts down South Carolina for 41-21 win

 

Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsKnoxville, TN – A second-half shutout, a career day from senior receiver Jauan Jennings and two special teams scores propelled Tennessee Football to a 41-21 victory over South Carolina for its second SEC victory of 2019 Saturday at Neyland Stadium.

Jennings’ seven catches moved him to sixth in program history with 129 career grabs. His 174 receiving yards set a new career-high, while placing him 10th all-time in UT history with 1,836 career receiving yards. Jennings also hauled in two touchdowns, moving him into a tie for eighth all-time with 17 receiving scores, tying Alvin Harper.

Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsNashville, TN – The Tennessee Volunteers dropped their final game of the regular season to Vanderbilt, 38-13, Saturday at Vanderbilt Stadium.

After trading punts to start the game, the Commodores (6-6, 3-5 SEC) took a 17-0 lead heading into the half. Tennessee (5-7, 2-6 SEC) fought back to pull within 10 points in the third thanks to sophomore running back Ty Chandler, but Vanderbilt outscored the Vols 21-6 in the final quarter.

Vandy quarterback Kyle Shurmur threw for 367 yards (31-of-35) and three touchdowns while Khari Blasingame rushed for 70 yards and a touchdown.

Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsKnoxville, TN – Coming off a marquee win over No. 11 Kentucky last Saturday, Tennessee will look to win its third straight and become bowl eligible this Saturday as Missouri visits Neyland Stadium.

Kickoff for UT’s final home game of 2018 is set for 2:30pm CT on CBS. Brad Nessler (play-by-play) and Gary Danielson (analyst) will have the call with Jamie Erdahl reporting from the sidelines. Vol Network radio affiliates will have a live audio broadcast with Bob Kesling, Tim Priest and Brent Hubbs. Sirius (Channel 94) and XM satellite radio (Channel 192) will also carry the game.

Saturday will also be Senior Day for the Vols as they will honor their 13 seniors prior to kickoff.
