Errors costly in Nashville Sounds loss to Las Vegas Aviators

 

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds committed four errors that resulted in multiple runs for the Las Vegas Aviators who won 9-4 at First Tennessee Park Thursday night.

Nashville’s defense committed two errors in the first inning, helping Las Vegas to a 1-0 lead, and two more errors in the eighth inning as the Aviators extended their lead from 7-4 to 9-4. Las Vegas committed three errors in a sloppy contest.

Esmerling Vasquez started for Nashville and committed both miscues in the opening inning.

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds fell to the New Orleans Baby Cakes 8-6 Saturday night in front of 11,089 fans at First Tennessee Park. The game featured 11 extra-base hits with nine doubles, a triple, and a home run.

New Orleans opened the scoring in the first frame as Magneuris Sierra ripped a one-out triple into the right center field gap. He came around to score on an RBI ground out from Eric Campbell.

The Baby Cakes added a pair of runs in the top of the second. Sounds starter Frankie Montas retired the first two batters of the frame before a pair of two-out walks proved costly.

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds saw their four-run lead after six innings disappear before coming from behind in the 10th inning to walk-off on the New Orleans Baby Cakes 7-6 Thursday night.

The Sounds got out to a 4-0 lead through six innings while starting pitcher Eric Jokisch turned in his best performance of the season. The southpaw came within one out of recording the Sounds’ third consecutive quality start. He was in line for his first win of the season as he tossed shutout 5 2/3 innings while giving up four hits and striking out six.

Anderson tossed six innings and allowed two runs in his first win of the season. The southpaw allowed a pair of runs in the second inning, then went on cruise control the rest of the night. Anderson ended the second by getting Magneuris Sierra to bounce into a fielder’s choice. It started a streak of 13 consecutive retired batters.

Nashville SoundsMetairie, LA – The offense for the Nashville Sounds was silent for the second consecutive night and resulted in a 2-1 loss to the New Orleans Baby Cakes Saturday night.

In a game that was delayed by rain for over 2.5 hours, both teams combined for only eight hits, but it was the Baby Cakes who improved to 2-1 with the one-run win.

The game started in Nashville’s favor as the Sounds scored in the top of the first inning. Jorge Mateo started the game by coaxing a walk off Sandy Alcantara. The speedster promptly swiped second base and scored when Renato Nunez lined a base hit up the middle.

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds downed the Las Vegas 51s by a 4-2 margin Friday night in front of 8,993 fans at Greer Stadium to pick up the team’s first series sweep of the season. The win extends the team’s season-best winning streak to five games.

Tied 2-2 in the fourth inning, Sounds shortstop Josh Prince dropped a triple into right field to lead off the frame and came around to score on a Blake Lalli’s double.
