APSU hosts UT Martin for Homecoming Game Saturday

 

Austin Peay State University GovernorsClarksville, TN – This will be Austin Peay’s 69th homecoming–”Blast from the Past” the theme–with the Govs owning a 28-39-1 record in those events. After winning homecoming games in both 2007 and 2008, the Govs have lost the last four homecomings, including a 48-27 defeat to Southeast Missouri a year ago.

APSU has won just seven homecoming games in the past 26 years.

APSU Governors Football falls to Murray State Racers 31-3

 

Austin Peay State University Governors Sports - APSUMurray, KY – Austin Peay State University’s offensive woes continued as it fell to Murray State, 31-3, Saturday, in Ohio Valley Conference action played at Roy Stewart Stadium.

The loss drops APSU to 0-7 overall and 0-3 in the OVC. Meanwhile, the Racers improved to 5-3 overall and 3-1 in OVC play.

Clarksville High Football remains winless with 31-point loss to Centennial

 

Clarksville High School WildcatsClarksville, TN – Clarksville High’s football team dropped its fourth straight game to open its 2013 campaign, September 13th at Hilda J. Richardson Field, with a 45-14 loss to Centennial High School.

For the Wildcats (0-4, 0-1 District 10-AAA), it marks the first time since the 1995 season that they would open year with four straight defeats

Lawrenz Guerra would get Clarksville High off to a quick start, as the senior running back took the first handoff of the night and went 67 yards for a touchdown to put the Wildcats up 7-0 – after Mason Gasaway’s extra-point – just 27 seconds into the game.

Northeast High School Football opens season with 48-31 win over Centennial

Northeast High School EaglesClarksville, TN – The Northeast Eagles opened up their 2013 football season with a convincing home victory over Centennial 48-31.

Although the Eagles ground game exploded for close to 500 yards rushing and 6 touchdowns on the night, it was the defense that set the tone early.

Northeast held the Cougars to 3 downs on their first possession, and on the ensuing punt, Northeast return man, Eric Webster, fumbled the punt and Centennial recovered at the Northeast 15 yard line.

Austin Peay State University Governors Sports - APSUClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s offensive came out aggressively, August 17th at Governors Stadium, attempting almost 40 passes, while recording two touchdowns of 40 yards or more during their morning scrimmage.

Austin Peay Lady Govs Basketball fades in overtime to lose to Belmont Bruins

 

Austin Peay State University Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s women’s basketball team rallied from six-points down in the second half to force overtime in its Ohio Valley Conference contest versus Belmont, Wednesday night at the Dunn Center, but the Bruins outscored the Lady Govs 17-4 in the extra five minutes of play to come away with a 71-58 victory.

APSU senior Meghan Bussabarger scored her 20th point of the game in overtime and with it became the 16th player to reach the 1,000 point mark. APSU Women's Basketball.
