Fort Campbell releases name of 101st Airborne Division Soldier Killed in Training Incident

Fort Campbell KY - 101st Airborne DivisionFort Campbell, KY – At approximately 2:00pm Wednesday, August 1st, 2018, a 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) Soldier died as the result of a training incident on Fort Campbell.

Pvt. 2nd Class Jeremy J. Wells, 19, of Adairsville, Georgia, was an aircraft electrician in the 101st Combat Aviation Brigade. He joined the Army in 2017, and completed training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina and Fort Eustis, Virginia before arriving to Fort Campbell in 2018. His decorations include: National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Medal, Army Service Ribbon and Basic Aviation Badge. He was posthumously awarded the Army Commendation Medal and the Army Good Conduct Medal.

101st Sustainment Brigade “Lifeliners” complete logistics mission in Liberia

Buchanan, Liberia – The 101st Sustainment Brigade, Task Force Lifeliner, the logistical element for Joint Forces Command – United Assistance, cased its unit colors in a traditional military ceremony held in Buchanan, Liberia, February 24th, 2015.

The ceremony, which signifies the completion of their mission in West Africa where they provided logistical support for Operation United Assistance, was attended by Maj. Gen. Gary Volesky, commander of the Joint Forces Command – United Assistance, Command Sgt. Maj. Gregory Nowak, the JFC-UA senior enlisted advisor, and Etweda “Sugar” Cooper, the superintendant for Bassa County, Liberia.

U.S Army Training and Doctrine Commander visits Clarksville

 

U.S. Army’s Training and Doctrine CommandClarksville, TN –  One of the Army’s top leaders told recruiters here that their mission remains relevant and vital even in times when the Army is undergoing a major transition.

General Robert W. Cone, who commands the U.S. Army’s Training and Doctrine Command, visited the Clarksville U.S. Army Recruiting Center on Saturday.  He spoke with the center’s recruiters and was given a briefing by its leaders.

Nangarhar Province, Afghanistan – For Spc. Jennifer Benevente, an avionics repair specialist with D Troop, 2nd Squadron, 17th Cavalry Regiment, serving in the military is something that has been in her family.

Even with a family history of military service, it was a series of events that nudged her toward the military.

Austin Peay State University to celebrate 40-year anniversary of the ROTC

 

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – In 1971, the U.S. Army established at Austin Peay State University the Army Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) for recruiting, training and commissioning future Army officers.

In the 40 years since, hundreds of cadets have been commissioned at APSU as second lieutenants in the Army. The program also has earned the reputation as one of the nation’s finest, having won several awards for training and management performance standards. 101st Combat Aviation Brigade Change of Command

 

Fort Campbell KY, 101st Airborne DivisionWings of DestinyFort Campbell, KY – The 101st Combat Aviation Brigade will receive a new commander June 24th, 2011, at 9:30am during a ceremony on the division parade field when Col. William K. Gayler relinquishes command to Col. Paul Bontrager.

Gayler has commanded the 101st CAB since 2009. During his tenure, the brigade deployed to southern Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Under Gayler’s command, the brigade provided Army aviation support for U.S. and NATO operations in Regional Command-South, West and Southwest from February 2010 to March 2011. «Read the rest of this article»
