Sean Halton Homers Twice In Losing Effort As Nashville Blows Five-Run Lead

Nashville SoundsRound Rock, TX – Round Rock overcame a five-run deficit to force extras and a two-out Ryan Spilborghs single in the bottom of the eleventh inning gave the Express a 7-6 victory over the Nashville Sounds late Wednesday evening at The Dell Diamond in the opener of a five-game series.

The contest was the Sounds’ PCL-leading 16th extra-inning affair of the year (6-10 in those games).

The Sounds (61-71) scored in the top of the first inning, eventually built a five-run advantage, and led for the entire game until Round Rock rallied in the bottom of the ninth against Rob Wooten to send it to extras. Since the promotion of All-Star closer Jim Henderson to the Milwaukee Brewers on July 26th, the Nashville bullpen has nine blown saves in 12 opportunities.

Nashville Sounds roll over Omaha Storm Chasers in 7-0 Shutout

Nashville SoundsPapillion, NE – Outfielder Caleb Gindl belted a pair of two-run homers to power the Nashville Sounds to a 7-0 shutout victory over the Omaha Storm Chasers on Tuesday night at Werner Park in the finale of a four-game series.

Nashville matched a season-high with 16 hits on the evening, while the bottom three hitters in the Sounds lineup combined for nine knocks, five RBIs, and six runs scored. Shortstop Jeff Bianchi (4-for-4) was a triple short of the cycle, reaching base safely in all five of his plate appearances and scoring three runs. Catcher Humberto Quintero also added two hits from the nine hole.

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Round Rock Express hit three consecutive two-out singles in the 11th inning to hand the Nashville Sounds a 5-4 defeat on Tuesday night at Greer Stadium in the second game of a four-game series.

The Express scored two runs in the ninth to force the game to extras and later won the game thanks to three straight hits from Joey Butler, Tommy Mendonca, and Luis Hernandez off Amaury Rivas (4-6).

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – Mark Rogers turned in a solid start and Eric Farris belted a two-run homer to lead the Nashville Sounds to a 3-1 victory over the Round Rock Express on Monday evening at Greer Stadium in the opener of a four-game series.

Rogers (5-6) continued his dominant pitching in home contests, holding the Express to one run on four hits over seven innings of work — his fifth quality start of the year. He struck out six batters while walking only one during his 99-pitch effort.

Nashville (20-28) earned its fourth consecutive victory, matching the club’s longest winning streak of the season.

Nashville Sounds get 7-6 win over the Round Rock Express

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – Nashville Sounds third baseman Hainley Statia provided the game-winning RBI single in the bottom of the eighth inning for a 7-6 victory over the Round Rock Express on Friday night at Greer Stadium.

With Corey Patterson on third base on two outs, Statia roped a liner to right field for the Sounds’ second last-at-victory in consecutive nights and eighth of the season. Nashville moved to 19-28 on the season and 12-5 in one-run games.

Sounds, Sky Sox Rained Out On Thursday Night In Colorado Springs

 

Nashville SoundsColorado Springs, CO – Wednesday evening’s scheduled opener of a four-game series between the Nashville Sounds and Colorado Springs Sky Sox at Security Service Field was postponed due to rain.

The game will be made up as part of a 6:00pm CT scheduled doubleheader, consisting of two seven-inning contetsts on Thursday evening.

Right-hander Mike Fiers (3-0, 2.25) will start game one for the Sounds against lefty Clayton Mortensen (1-5, 9.82). In the twinbill nightcap, Nashville southpaw Sam Narron (5-4, 4.30) will toe the rubber against Sky Sox right-hander Greg Reynolds (5-5, 6.58).
