Austin Peay State University Lady GovsClarksville, TN – A nine-minute first-half drought proved too much to overcome as Austin Peay State University women’s basketball team fell 71-52 to Tennessee State, Saturday, in Ohio Valley Conference action at the Dunn Center.

Clarksville’s nicknames have ranged from: The Queen City, Queen of the Cumberland, Gateway to the New South to the current Tennessee’s Top Spot.

Austin Peay Lady Govs Basketball at Southeast Missouri Monday

Austin Peay State University Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay will play the first of four consecutive solo contests when it travels to Southeast Missouri for a 7:00pm, Monday contest at the Show Me Center. It will be a matchup of teams currently ninth (APSU) and 10th (SEMO) in the OVC standings.

Both teams bring five-game losing streaks into Monday’s contests after each lost Saturday outings – Austin Peay 82-77 to Tennessee State while Southeast Missouri fell to UT Martin, 88-47. Austin Peay has won the last six meetings in the series, Southeast Missouri last downing the Lady Govs during the 2007-08 season at the Show Me Center.

Clarksville Sports NetworkClarksville, TN – After dropping four consecutive games, the Austin Peay Lady Govs entered Saturday night’s matchup against the Tennessee State Lady Tigers desperately seeking a win to prove to the rest of the conference that they still had a pulse.

And, and after overcoming a 12-point second-half deficit, the Lady Govs proved they are still very much alive.

The Lady Govs senior duo of Whitney Hanley and Jasmine Rayner scored 22 and 21 points, respectively.

Lady Govs undone by foul trouble in OVC opening loss at Tennessee State

Austin Peay State University Lady GovsNashville, TN – Austin Peay State University women’s basketball team could not overcome an outsized night of foul trouble, losing to Tennessee State, 95-81, Thursday night at the Gentry Center in the Ohio Valley Conference opener for both teams.

Austin Peay (3-11, 0-1 OVC), which trailed by just eight points at the half, was charged with 25 second-half fouls. Whitney Hanley was the first Lady Govs player to foul out of the contest, picking up her fifth with 8:29 remaining in the period. Before the contest ended she was joined by Meghan Bussabarger and Jasmine Rayner.

Austin Peay Lady Govs open OVC Slate at Tennessee State

 

APSU Sports Information: Austin Peay Basketball

Austin Peay State University Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay returns from its Christmas break to begin Ohio Valley Conference play with a 5:30pm, Thursday contest at Tennessee State. The Lady Govs bring a two-game losing streak into conference play after dropping back-to-back home contests just prior to the holiday break.

Tennessee State has lost its last three outings entering league action. Both teams played Florida A&M prior to their respective six-day breaks, Austin Peay dropping an 86-77 decision, December 21st, while Tennessee State fell to the Lady Rattlers, 90-75, the next day.
