Austin Peay Lady Govs Tennis loses to the UT Martin Skyhawks in Ohio Valley Conference action

Austin Peay State University Lady GovsMartin, TN – Austin Peay State University women’s tennis dropped a 4-3 match at UT Martin, Sunday, to cap a weekend of Ohio Valley Conference play.

It was the Lady Govs first OVC loss after picking up a 6-1 win, Saturday, against Southeast Missouri. Austin Peay fell to 5-11 overall with a 2-1 OVC mark while UT Martin improved to 4-8 overall with a  3-0 league record.

Austin Peay Tennis’ Jasmin Ademovic and Vanja Tomic both ranked No. 1 in OVC Tennis Preview

 

APSU Sports: Austin Peay Men and Womens Tennis

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s men and women’s tennis teams highlighted the Ohio Valley Conference’s preseason polls, released Friday.

Sophomore Jasmin Ademovic, of the men’s team, and senior Vanja Tomic, of the women’s team, each topped the OVC’s Individual preseason rankings. Junior Sean Bailey, of the men’s team also was ranked No. 3.  The Govs and Lady Govs are both picked to finish second, respectively.

Tomic and Wiekard named First-Team All-OVC

 

APSU Women’s Tennis

Austin Peay State University GovernorsClarksville, TN – Junior Vanja Tomic and sophomore Carolin Weikard, of the Austin Peay State University tennis team, were each named first-team All-Ohio Valley Conference, as voted on by the league’s coaches, Thursday, the league office announced.

It is the second-straight year for Tomic and Weikard to earn first-team All-OVC honors and also marks the third consecutive year for the Lady Govs to have a player named to the first team. Last season, Tomic was the league’s Player of the Year and Weikard was Freshman of the Year as the Lady Govs won the tournament championship and advanced to play Georgia Tech in the NCAA Regional.

Tomic, Lady Govs Tennis fall to UT Martin

Austin Peay State University GovernorsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University women’s tennis team dropped a 4-3 decision to UT Martin, Thursday, in Ohio Valley Conference action at the Austin Peay Tennis Courts.

The Lady Govs lost an emotionally exhausting doubles match at No. 2, allowing the Skyhawks to win the point. This was after sophomore Carolin Weikard and freshman Kimberly Loo made quick work of UTM’s Jodie Tiley and Anna Marie Herbold at No. 1. Junior Vanja Tomic and freshman Andra Cornea, followed with a 9-7 loss at No. 2.

Tomic wins 18th-straight, but Lady Govs fall at Xavier

 

APSU Women’s Tennis

Austin Peay State University GovernorsCincinnati, OH – Austin Peay State University women’s tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision at Xavier, Saturday night in Cincinnati. The loss dropped the Lady Govs to 1-1 overall.

Junior Vanja Tomic highlighted the Lady Govs efforts with a three-set win at No. 1 singles. Not only did the win continue her impressive 18-match win streak, but it also was her first three-set match since defeating UT Martin’s Jodie Tiley, May 27th, 2010.
