Tennessee Vols Football upends #21/21 Auburn Tigers, 30-24

Auburn, AL – The Tennessee Vols Football team outscored the No. 21/21 Auburn Tigers 17-7 in the final two quarters of Saturday’s game to earn its first road and SEC win of the season at Jordan-Hare Stadium.

“We beat a really good football team today,” head coach Jeremy Pruitt said. “It’s like I told them in there, if we learn to execute and raise our level of fight, we’ve got a chance to have a really good football team. There were times in the game where things didn’t go our way. I didn’t think we played very well at certain times in the game, but our guys kind of kept their poise. Fought a little bit harder. They played with a little better technique. We got some turnovers and didn’t turn the ball over.”

UT Football loses to #17 West Virginia

Charlotte, NC – Tennessee Vols Football fell to No. 17 West Virginia, 40-14, to open the 2018 season Saturday in the Belk College Kickoff at Bank of America Stadium.
 
The Volunteers now turn their focus to next Saturday’s home-opener against ETSU. Kickoff for that contest—which marks first-year UT head coach Jeremy Pruitt‘s Neyland Stadium debut—is set for 3:00pm CT (SEC Network).
 
All-American West Virginia quarterback Will Grier led a high-powered Mountaineers offense that came to life in the second half—scoring 27 points over the final 30 minutes. Grier finished the game having completed 25 of 34 passes for 429 yards and five touchdowns.

Tennessee Vols Football travels to Kentucky Wildcats Saturday

Knoxville, TN – Tennessee continues SEC road play this week as the Vols head to Lexington to take on Kentucky at Kroger Field. Saturday’s game will feature at 6:30pm CT kickoff on SEC Network.

Tom Hart (play-by-play) and Jordan Rodgers (analyst) will be in the booth and Cole Cubelic will report from the sidelines. Vol Network radio affiliates will have a live audio broadcast with Bob Kesling, Tim Priest and Brent Hubbs. Sirius Channel 119 and XM Channel 191 will also carry a live audio broadcast.

#21 Tennessee Vols beat Nebraska Cornhuskers 38-24 in the Music City Bowl

Nashville, TN – Joshua Dobbs racked up 409 yards of total offense and four touchdowns, Derek Barnett set a new Tennessee sack record and the No. 21 Tennessee Volunteers took a 38-24 win over the Nebraska Cornhuskers in the 2016 Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl on Friday at Nissan Stadium.

Tennessee (9-4) led from start to finish and posted 521 yards of offense thanks to Dobbs’ outstanding career finale. Dobbs, who was named MVP of the game, ran for 118 yards and three scores on 11 carries and finished 23-of-38, throwing for 291 yards and one touchdown.

#24 Tennessee Volunteers travel to Vanderbilt Commodores Saturday

Knoxville, TN – No. 24/24 Tennessee will close its 2016 regular-season schedule against Vanderbilt on Saturday with a 6:30pm CT kickoff at Vanderbilt Stadium.

Saturday’s game will have a SEC Network broadcast with Tom Hart (play-by-play) and Andre Ware (analyst) in the booth and Cole Cubelic reporting from the sidelines. Tennessee (8-3, 4-3 SEC) is 4-0 when on the SEC Network or SEC Network alternate this season. Hart, Ware and Cubelic were on the broadcast for UT’s wins over Ohio (September 17th) and Kentucky (November 12th).

Tennessee Vols Football takes care of Missouri, 63-37

Knoxville, TN – In his final game at Neyland Stadium, senior quarterback Joshua Dobbs accounted for five touchdowns to lead the Tennessee Volunteers to a 63-37 victory over the Missouri Tigers on Saturday.

Dobbs passed for 223 yards and three touchdowns on Senior Day. He rushed for two more scores — including a career-long 70-yard breakaway touchdown gallop down the Missouri sideline — to finish with a career-best 413 total yards.
