Errors costly in APSU Baseball’s loss to #24 Tennessee Vols

APSU Baseball - Austin Peay State UniversityKnoxville, TN – Austin Peay State University baseball first baseman Dre Gleason had three hits and four RBI, but a short-staffed Governors squad could not hold its early lead in an 18-4 loss to nationally-ranked Tennessee, Wednesday afternoon, at Lindsey Nelson Stadium.

Austin Peay (9-7) grabbed the early lead thanks to Gleason’s bat as he hit a two-out, three-run home run in the first inning to push the Govs out to a 3-0 lead.

It will be the fourth time in the last five seasons Austin Peay and Tennessee have met, UT holding a 3-1 edge in those contests.

Austin Peay Governors Baseball’s Reed Harper named Ohio Valley Conference Co-Player of the Week

 

Ohio Valley ConferenceReed HarperBrentwood, TN – Austin Peay State University junior shortstop Reed Harper has been named the adidas Ohio Valley Conference Co-Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.

Harper, of Clarksville (Clarksville HS), led the Govs with a .500 batting average (6-of-12) and six RBI during their 2-1 OVC series victory at Eastern Kentucky last weekend.
