Nashville Sounds lose Friday Night 6-1 to Omaha Storm Chasers

 

Nashville SoundsPapillion, NE – Omaha left-hander Chris Dwyer continued his dominance of the Sounds, leading the Storm Chasers to a 6-1 victory over Nashville on Friday evening at Werner Park in the opener of a four-game series.

Dwyer (4-8) hurled his fourth quality start in four outings against the Sounds this season, allowing one run on three hits while striking out eight batters in seven strong inning of work. In his four outings against Nashville this year, he went 4-0 with a 1.63 ERA (5er/27.2ip). Dwyer is 3-8 with a 3.91 mark versus the remainder of the PCL (40er/92.0ip).

Nashville (6-12) improved to 4-0 in series openers at Greer and snapped a three-game skid with its first come-from-behind victory.

Nashville Sounds beat Memphis Redbirds 7-2 for Third win in a Row

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – Wily Peralta struck out a career high 11 batters as the Nashville Sounds handed the cross-state rival Memphis Redbirds a 7-3 defeat on Thursday night at Greer Stadium.

The win gave Nashville its third victory of the series and ninth win in the 16-game season series to earn the Tennessee Lottery I-40 Cup Series.

With a 48-57 record, the Sounds are less than 10 games under .500 for the first time since May 27th when they were 20-29.

Sounds Drop Second Straight To Redbirds, 9-6

 

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds lost their second straight game to the cross-state rival Memphis Redbirds on Thursday evening, falling 9-6 at Greer Stadium.

With the win, Memphis pulled within three games of division-leading Omaha, which lost in New Orleans. The Sounds (66-67), who fell below .500 for the first time since August 8th, remain 8 ½ games back of the Storm Chasers with 11 contests remaining in the season.

Redbirds right fielder Nick Stavinoha paced the visitors’ 13-hit attack with a 4-for-6 evening.

Sounds Lose Homestand Opener To Redbirds, 5-4

 

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – Memphis outfielder Andrew Brown homered twice as the cross-state rival Memphis Redbirds edged the Nashville Sounds, 5-4, on Wednesday night in the opener of a five-game set at Greer Stadium.

With the loss, Nashville (66-66) drops to .500 by the first time since August 9 and now trails division-leading Omaha by 8.5 games in the PCL American Northern Division. Nashville has now played in 50 one-run games (23-27), the second-most in the league behind Fresno (51). The 27 one-run defeats co-lead the PCL with Tucson.

Sounds Lose 6-5 To Memphis In Extras

 

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds lost an extra-inning, 6-5 contest to division-rival Memphis Redbirds in the finale of a three-game series on Wednesday evening at Greer Stadium. Memphis plated the winning run on a Nashville fielding error in the top of the 13th inning, which snapped a streak of four errorless games for the Sounds.

Nashville (39-47) has played in a PCL-high 41 one-run games this season, going 18-23 in those contests. The Sounds’ 23 one-run losses are most in the PCL and account for nearly half of the club’s total defeats. Nashville also moved to 1-8 in extra-inning play.

Sounds Walk Off Against Redbirds Again

 

Nashville Rebounds From Six-Run Deficit To Post 9-8 Victory

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds recorded their second straight walkoff win over the division-rival Memphis Redbirds, coming back from an early six-run deficit to post a 9-8 victory on Tuesday evening at Greer Stadium.

With the bases full of Sounds and one out, Brandon Boggs lined a game-ending RBI single to right off Memphis reliever Cory Rauschenberger to plate Erick Almonte with the winning run.
