#14/16 Tennessee Lady Vols Basketball faces #7/7 South Carolina at SEC Tournament

UT Lady VolsGreenville, SC – No. 14/16 Tennessee (16-6, 9-4 SEC), the No. 3 seed, has advanced to the semifinal round of the SEC Tournament and will meet No. 7/7 South Carolina (20-4, 14-2 SEC), the No. 2 seed, at approximately 6:30 p.m. on Saturday at Bon Secours Wellness Arena.

No. 1 seed Texas A&M and No. 4 seed Georgia will meet in the other semifinal round match-up at 3:00pm CT on Saturday.

The Tennessee Lady Vols will be making their first appearance in the SEC semifinal round since 2016, when they did so in Jacksonville, FL, before falling to Mississippi State, 58-48.

Tennessee Lady Vols Basketball to face Arkansas or Ole Miss at SEC Tournament, Friday

UT Lady VolsKnoxville, TN – No. 14/16 Tennessee women’s basketball (15-6, 9-4 SEC), which earned the No. 3 seed by virtue of its third-place regular-season finish, will open play on Friday night at the SEC Tournament in Greenville, SC.

The Lady Vols will face the winner of Thursday’s game between sixth-seeded #13/13 Arkansas (19-7, 9-6 SEC) and No. 11 seed Ole Miss (10-10, 4-10 SEC) at approximately 7:15pm CT on Friday at Bon Secours Wellness Arena.

In head-to-head match-ups this season, UT defeated (then) No. 13/13 Arkansas, 88-73, on January 7th in Knoxville and erased a 13-point deficit to beat Ole Miss in Knoxville, 68-67, on January 28th.

Tennessee Women’s Basketball loses at #6/5 Texas A&M, 80-70

 

UT Lady VolsCollege Station, TX – No. 16/19 Tennessee women’s basketball pulled within one late in the fourth but couldn’t overcome a No. 6/5 Texas A&M team that shot 63 percent from the floor in the final quarter and also hit 17 of 22 free throws in that period, falling 80-70 in Reed Arena on Sunday afternoon. 
 
Senior Rennia Davis led Tennessee (12-5, 6-3 SEC) with 25 points and added four rebounds, marking her fourth game this season and 17th of her career with 20 or more points. Sophomore Tamari Key turned in her second double-double of the season with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

#25 Tennessee Women’s Basketball comes up short at home against #3 UConn, 67-61

 

UT Lady VolsKnoxville, TN – The No. 25/RV Tennessee Lady Vols basketball team took a four-point lead into the final quarter but couldn’t hold on, falling 67-61 to No. 3/5 UConn in Thompson-Boling Arena on Thursday night in front of a crowd of 3,553, the largest of any NCAA women’s game thus far in 2020-21.
 
Tennessee (9-3, 3-1 SEC) was led by junior Rae Burrell who had 18 points and eight rebounds. Senior Rennia Davis narrowly missed a double-double with 11 points and nine rebounds, and sophomore Tamari Key and freshman Marta Suárez each turned in 10 points.

UT Lady VolsKnoxville, TN – Tennessee Lady Vols basketball team (6-1, 0-0 SEC) finally opens Southeastern Conference play on Thursday, as No. 13/13 Arkansas (10-2, 1-1 SEC) comes to Thompson-Boling Arena.
 
The Lady Vols, who are receiving votes in the AP and USA TODAY Coaches Polls, and the Razorbacks will tip at 5:32pm CT in UT’s first game since it defeated Lipscomb, 77-52, in Knoxville on December 28th.
 
Kellie Harper‘s squad paused team activities on December 29th and had contests vs. Texas A&M and Kentucky postponed last week due to COVID-19 Coronavirus contact tracing within the program.

Tennessee Women’s Basketball defeats Lipscomb at Thompson-Boling Arena, 77-52

 

UT Lady VolsKnoxville, TN – Senior Rennia Davis turned in a double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Tennessee Lady Vols basketball team to a 77-52 win over Lipscomb in Thompson-Boling Arena on Monday night. 

Junior Rae Burrell finished with 10 points to join Davis in double figures for Tennessee (6-1), and senior Kasiyahna Kushkituah and sophomore Tamari Key each added nine. Every active player for the Lady Vols finished with at least two points.

Lipscomb (3-3) was led by senior Taylor Clark who had 14 points and four rebounds.

Tennessee Lady Vols Basketball is on the road Thursday to take on Indiana

UT Lady VolsKnoxville, TN – Tennessee (3-1) and No. 15 Indiana (2-1) will face off Thursday afternoon in Bloomington, with the schools playing for only the second time ever.

The Lady Vols and Hoosiers will meet at 3:01pm CT in IU’s Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall.

Consistent with IU Athletics’ ongoing efforts to protect the health and safety of students, coaches, staff, spectators and the local community, the game will be played without fans in attendance. IU Athletics’ decision is in response to the COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic and is consistent with what has transpired on all Big Ten campuses during the 2020 football season.

UT Lady VolsKnoxville, TN – Tennessee (3-1) embarks on its second road trip and its second contest vs. a Big 12 Conference school this season, playing at No. 23 Texas (4-1) on Sunday afternoon.

The UT Lady Vols and Longhorns will meet for the 39th straight season and 42nd time overall at 4:00pm CT (5:00pm ET) at the Frank C. Erwin Jr. Special Events Center in Austin.

Head coach Kellie Harper‘s squad is coming off its most impressive offensive showing of the season in a 90-53 home win over Furman on Thursday night.

Texas, meanwhile, rolled past Idaho at home, 73-48, on Wednesday afternoon.

Tennessee Lady Vols Basketball takes down Furman Paladins, 90-53

 

UT Lady VolsKnoxville, TN – A career day from junior Rae Burrell, who finished with 26 points and seven assists, fueled a 90-53 Lady Vols’ win over Furman in Thompson-Boling Arena on Thursday night.
 
Tennessee (3-1) shot a sizzling 54.8 percent from the floor, including an impressive 58.3 percent from behind the arc. Redshirt junior Jordan Walker was also in double digits for the Lady Vols with 14 points and three rebounds.
 
Furman (1-3) was led by Tierra Hodges, who had 17 points and seven rebounds. Tate Rodgers and Sydney James each pitched in 11.

UT Lady VolsKnoxville, TN – #RV/RV Tennessee Lady Vols Basketball team (2-0) hits the road for the first time during the 2020-21 campaign, as the Lady Vols make their way to Morgantown to face the West Virginia Mountaineers (3-0) in the SEC/Big 12 Challenge at 1:00pm CT on Sunday, December 6th, 2020 at 14,000-seat WVU Coliseum.

The venue will be eerily quiet, however, as WVU, state and local officials are prohibiting spectators from attending indoor athletic events for the entire month of December due to recent spikes in positive cases of COVID-19 Coronavirus. Only essential game operations personnel and families of players and staff will be admitted.
