In Dillard’s third appearance in the last seven days, he limited the Cubs to two runs on five hits. He issued one walk and struck out four in his sixth win of the year. The offense helped Dillard with four home runs – two from Solak in his First Tennessee Park debut, and one each from Andy Ibanez and Patrick Wisdom. Nashville Sounds loses Thursday night to San Antonio Missions
Nashville took the early lead in the top of the first inning. Zack Granite led off with a double and scored on a single by Scott Heineman. He later scored on a single by Nick Solak to give the Sounds a 2-0 lead. Shelby Miller made the start for the Missions in his first pitching appearance since June 25th with the Texas Rangers before being released. Nashville Sounds suffer 6-4 loss at Iowa CubsNashville Sounds
Davidson’s solo blast came in the second inning and was his fifth of the season. Calhoun’s was a three-run shot in the top of the ninth to make it interesting. It was Calhoun’s fourth long ball of the season with Nashville. Iowa got on the board right way against Nashville starter Phillips Valdez. With two outs and runners at first and second in the opening inning, Cubs’ third baseman Cristhian Adames singled to left field but the ball got past Calhoun and to the wall. Nashville Sounds beat Iowa Cubs at First Tennessee Park, 8-2Nashville Sounds
Nashville collected 11 hits on the night, led by multi-hit performances by Danny Santana, Carlos Tocci and Eli White. The trio reached base safely nine times in the win. Tocci helped start the scoring immediately in the bottom of the first inning when he led off the home half of the inning with a base hit to left-center. Called up from Single-A South Bend Saturday afternoon, Swarmer tossed seven shutout innings and limited the Sounds to only four hits. The chances against the right-hander were few and far between.
