APSU joins state effort to get more face masks in hands of Tennessee residents

 

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU) has joined a state effort to distribute close to 300,000 free or low-cost cloth face coverings across the state.

APSU bought 30,000 (about 10 percent of the masks) to give to students, staff and faculty.

Austin Peay State University releases safety guidelines for employee, student return to campus

 

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University (APSU) COVID-19 Task Force recently released guidelines outlining how faculty, staff, students and visitors can safely return to campus. On March 23rd, the University moved all classes fully online and the majority of employees began working remotely in response to the coronavirus pandemic.

Austin Peay State University plans for in-person, on-campus classes in the Fall

 

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – On Monday, May 4th, 2020, Austin Peay State University (APSU) officials announced that they plan to move forward with in-person classes on campus this Fall.

The decision comes after collecting information and recommendations from health officials and campus community members who are working on plans to facilitate social distancing and heightened cleaning and sanitation protocols.

APSU names Philadelphia emergency expert Lynn Fisher first Director of Emergency Management

 

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – Last summer, an explosion at the Philadelphia Energy Solutions refinery in Pennsylvania sent, according to WHYY, “3,271 pounds of the dangerous hydrofluoric acid” into the atmosphere. While the refinery still burned, Lynn Fisher arrived on the scene as the response and emergency operations center manager. On May 18th, 2020 Fisher will arrive at Austin Peay State University (APSU) as the institution’s first Director of Emergency Management.

When the electric vehicle passed a group of students, they paused beneath umbrellas to watch the strange-looking car.

Austin Peay State University Police Department awarded accreditation by Tennessee Association of Chiefs of Police

 

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s Police Department recently received accreditation by the Tennessee Association of Chiefs of Police through its Tennessee Law Enforcement Accreditation Program.

The program requires police departments complete a three-phase process, including review by the independent reviewing authority, in addition to meeting 160 standards.

Austin Peay State University Food for Fines project doubles participation for 2017

 

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – In 2014, the Austin Peay State University Department of Public Safety began a partnership with the University’s Save Our Students (SOS) food bank, creating the Food for Fines program.

The program allows anyone who received an APSU parking ticket the option to provide food to APSU students in need in exchange for a parking ticket being voided.

APSU Campus Police investigate Sexual Assault report

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – Yesterday evening,April 5th, 2016 at approximately 10:30pm, APSU Police received a report of possible sexual battery.

The victim stated that a male subject ran up behind her and slapped her on the buttocks while she was walking between the Morgan University Center and Browning Building.

The subject then fled north, toward the bookstore.
