#20/21 Tennessee Lady Vols Basketball beats Missouri, 78-73

 

UT Lady VolsColumbia, MO – Senior Rennia Davis scored all 26 of her points in the second half, including 20 in the fourth-quarter, leading No. 20/21 Tennessee women’s basketball team to a 78-73 win over Missouri at Mizzou Arena on Thursday night.
 
Junior Rae Burrell was also a factor for UT (14-6, 8-4 SEC), notching 23 points and eight rebounds. Redshirt junior Jordan Walker was UT’s top rebounder, pulling down 10 boards on the night.
 
Missouri (8-10, 4-9 SEC) was led by Haley Troup and Aijha Blackwell with 16 points each. Shannon Dufficy and Shug Dickson were also in double figures with 10 points apiece.

UT Lady VolsKnoxville, TN – No. 20/21 Tennessee (13-6, 7-4 SEC) embarks on the final road trip and last week of the 2020-21 regular season, traveling to Columbia for a Thursday evening battle with Missouri (8-9/4-8 SEC). The Lady Vols and Tigers will tip it off at 7:02pm CT (8:02pm ET) at Mizzou Arena.

After facing ranked teams in its last four games, UT will play against a pair of unranked Tiger teams at MU on Thursday and vs. Auburn on Sunday to wrap things up prior to the SEC Tournament.

UT is holding down fourth place in the SEC standings and is trying to seize one of the double byes for the league tourney after being predicted to finish sixth in the preseason coaches and media polls.

Tennessee Vols Basketball get 69-59 victory at Missouri

 

Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsColumbia, MO – Six double-digit scorers, a career-high 11 points from junior Jalen Johnson and a gritty defensive effort led the Tennessee Vols basketball team past Missouri, 69-59, Tuesday at Mizzou Arena.

The result improved the Vols to 9-5 overall and 1-1 in SEC play, while the Tigers fell to 8-6 (0-2 SEC) after dropping their first two conference matchups.

Johnson enjoyed his best performance of the season, scoring 11 points and knocking down a career-high three attempts from 3-point range.

Senior Jordan Bowden added a game-high 13 points and had four rebounds to cap several critical defensive stops.

Tennessee Lady Vols leave Columbia with 62-60 win over Missouri

UT Lady VolsColumbia, MO – The Tennessee Lady Vols earned a hard-fought victory over RV/RV Missouri on Sunday, coming from four points down in the final stanza to claim a 62-60 triumph in front of a crowd of 8,559 in Mizzou Arena.

Sophomore point guard Evina Westbrook led UT (17-8, 6-6 SEC) with 18 points and six assists, while sophomore forward Rennia Davis logged her 17th career double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Freshman forward Meme Collins also found her way into double digits, tying her career high of 11 points while adding six rebounds.
 
MU (19-8, 8-5 SEC) was led by Amber Smith with 14 points and five rebounds. Sophie Cunningham and Cierra Porter were close behind with 13 apiece.

#3 Tennessee Vols Basketball cruises to 87-63 win over Missouri

Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsColumbia, MO – No. 3 Tennessee Vols Basketball rebounded from a slow start to cruise to an 87-63 win at Missouri Tuesday night at Mizzou Arena.
 
The Vols (13-1, 2-0 SEC) extended their winning streak to nine games with the victory. UT’s 87 points were the most the Tigers (9-4, 0-1 SEC) had allowed this season.
 
After going down by nine early on, the Tennessee Vols rallied to the 24-point win on the road. Kyle Alexander posted another strong performance in the paint, recording 14 points, a career-high 17 rebounds and three blocks for his third double-double of the season–and second in a row.

#11 Tennessee Lady Vols lose heartbreaker at #13 Missouri Tigers, 77-73

UT Lady VolsColumbia, MO – No. 11/11 Tennessee dropped a hard-fought thriller at No. 13/13 Missouri Sunday, falling to the Tigers by a score of 77-73 in front of a record crowd of 11,092 at Mizzou Arena.
 
Senior Jaime Nared led the Lady Vols (21-6, 9-5 SEC) with 25 points, while Mercedes Russell added 10 points and nine rebounds.
 
UT overcame a 13-point second-quarter deficit and worked the game into a 62-62 tie with 5:18 remaining. However, the Tigers (22-5, 10-4 SEC) used clutch free-throw shooting down the stretch to pull ahead late, including two from Sophie Cunningham with one second remaining that put them ahead by four. Cunningham netted 32 points on 9-of-14 shooting to lead Missouri.
