Clarksville, TN – Derek van der Merwe, who has served as Austin Peay State University Athletics Director for the past 1 ½ years, will step down from that post after being named the University’s Vice President for Advancement, Communication and Strategic Initiatives.
That announcement was made Friday morning by University President Alisa White. van Der Merwe replaces Dr. Brian Johnson, who left the University in Spring 2014 to become president at Tuskegee University.

Clarksville, TN – When future generations look back on the history of Austin Peay State University, the year 2013 will likely be remembered as a pivotal time in the University’s development.
In the last 12 months, the campus has changed tremendously, both in terms of its layout and its notoriety. New, state-of-the-art buildings are welcoming new students, and even the President of the United States is talking about APSU.

APSU Governors Basketball beats Montana State 78-72

Mount Pleasant, MI – Chris Horton scored a career-high 23 points while fellow sophomore Zavion Williams came off the bench to add 21 to lift Austin Peay State University to a 78-72 win against Montana State, Saturday night, in the final game of Central Michigan tournament.
In completing the tournament 1-2, the Govs’ victory evened their mark at 3-3 while Montana State fell to 1-4.

APSU Governors Basketball mistakes, cold shooting costly in 80-70 loss to Cal State Northridge

Mount Pleasant, MI – Josh Greene stole an errant pass and scored on a go-ahead layup with 39 seconds left in overtime as Cal State Northridge defeated Austin Peay State University, 80-77, Friday afternoon in second-round action of the Central Michigan Tournament played at McGuirk Arena.

APSU Governors Basketball loses to Central Michigan 90-75

Mount Pleasant, MI – Central Michigan opened the second half on a 21-10 run and never looked back as it defeated Austin Peay State University, 90-75, Thursday night in the opening round of the Central Michigan Tournament at McGuirk Arena.
