Dodging the Roadkill: After The Flood, The Rivers Edge Resort

Dodging the Roadkill - A Biker's JourneyEminence, MO – The first year of this journey I’m on, I was like a kid with the new bike he got for Christmas.  I wanted to go EVERYWHERE!

Not knowing much about where to ride, I would just google places of interest and during the summer of 2016, I came across a website, Motorcycle the Ozarks.  The pictures were beautiful, and I couldn’t resist the names of some of the roads to ride.

How could I NOT go ride the Jesse James Getaway, or the Ozark Hellbender? What was even better was that the destination was only about four hours away and that was something I was looking for.

Dodging the Roadkill: Bald Knob Cross

Dodging the Roadkill - A Biker's JourneyClarksville, TN – It’s only fitting that on the day that millions of Christians celebrate their faith and the sacrifice that was made for them for all eternity, I share the story of Bald Knob Cross.  You can read the history at the link I’ve provided.

I was made aware of this magnificent structure from one of my followers of this blog.  Just another reason I LOVE the people I meet on this bike.

While I have ridden the Ozarks, in both Missouri and Arkansas, I’ve never been to Alto Pass Illinois, or this magnificent structure.  Here’s the video.

The Christian Motorcycle Association sponsors their annual “Blessing of the Bikes” here each year, drawing thousands of bikers from all over the country.  This years event is April 29th.

Dodging the Roadkill: Mountains Music and Motorcycles

Dodging the Roadkill - A Biker's JourneyMountain View, AR – On a hot August weekend in the town of Mountain View, Arkansas, an estimated 10,000 motorcycles arrive for a weekend of food, music, fellowship and brotherhood.  It’s time for the annual “Mountains, Music and Motorcycles” festival in the beautiful Ozark Mountains. Watch the video here.

This event was started twelve years ago and is operated and managed by volunteers and sponsored by the Mountain View Chamber of Commerce.  This year the event raised money for “Royal Family KIDS” the nation’s leading network of Camps, Clubs and Mentoring for children of abuse, abandonment and neglect.
