Tennessee Vols Basketball mauled by Georgia Bulldogs, 80-63

 

Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsAthens, GA – Two first-half runs and a hot-shooting touch from 3-point range in the opening half from Georgia were the difference on Wednesday night, as the Tennessee men’s basketball team fell, 80-63, in Athens.

Tennessee dropped to 10-6 and 2-2 in the SEC, while Georgia improved to 11-5 and 1-2 in conference action. 

Senior Jordan Bowden paced the Vols in scoring, tallying 12 points on 5-of-12 shooting from the field.

Freshman Josiah-Jordan James finished with 11 points, marking his fourth consecutive double-digit scoring output.

Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsAthens, GA – The Tennessee Vols men’s basketball team returns to the hardwood looking for its third consecutive win when it takes on Georgia inside Stegeman Coliseum on Wednesday night. Tipoff is set for 6:00pm CT on ESPNU.

#3 Tennessee Vols Basketball dominates Georgia, 96-50

Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsKnoxville, TN – In front of a sold out Thompson-Boling Arena crowd, No. 3 Tennessee Vols basketball team dominated its Southeastern Conference opener from the opening whistle, blitzing Georgia in a 96-50 win.

Led by a combined 56 points from Jordan Bowden (20), Grant Williams (18) and Admiral Schofield (18), Tennessee (12-1, 1-0 SEC) led Georgia (8-5, 0-1 SEC) by as many as 49 points en route to a 46-point victory Saturday afternoon. The 46-point scoring margin tied the second largest margin of victory over an SEC opponent in Tennessee program history.

#16 Tennessee Vols defeats Georgia to win share of SEC Regular Season Championship

Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsKnoxville, TN – Tennessee scored the game’s final nine points and survived a thrilling battle with Georgia to win a share of the SEC regular-season championship, 66-61.

The SEC title is UT’s first since the 2007-08 season. The Volunteers were picked in the preseason to finish 13th in the 14-team league.
 
With Tennessee leading 61-60 with less than a minute remaining, Kyle Alexander stole a Georgia pass to give the Vols possession. On the other end of the court, Admiral Schofield hit a mid-range jumper with 17 seconds left to push the Volunteers’ lead to three points, 64-61.
