Both free passes issued by Bracewell came in his fifth and final inning of work as he came to the end of the line.

Nashville Sounds loses to Tacoma Rainiers 9-2

Nashville Sounds

Nashville SoundsTacoma, WA – The Tacoma Rainiers scored a pair of runs in the opening inning and never looked back in a 9-2 win over the Nashville Sounds Wednesday night at Cheney Stadium.

Tacoma first baseman Dan Vogelbach drilled an opposite field two-run homer off Nashville starter Frankie Montas in the first inning to start the scoring for the Rainiers.

Nashville managed hits in each of the first three innings but came away with only one run. Franklin Barreto’s first inning double, and Yairo Munoz’s second inning single went for naught as Tacoma starter Sam Gaviglio worked around both in his first two frames.

Iowa Cubs rock Nashville Sounds 16-7

Nashville Sounds

Nashville SoundsDes Moines, IA – The Iowa Cubs used three huge innings and 23 hits to dispatch the Nashville Sounds, 16-7, Tuesday night at Principal Park.

Iowa used a five-run first, four-run third, and four-run seventh to kept the Sounds chasing all night. The 23 hits allowed by Nashville pitchers was one shy of tying the franchise record of 24 in a single-game.

Ben Bracewell started for the Sounds and deserved better than the eight earned runs charged to his final line. The right-hander yielded five infield singles and dealt with two errors in the first inning that put Nashville in a 5-0 hole after the one.

Nashville Sounds rally to beat Oklahoma City Dodgers, 5-4

Nashville Sounds

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – Marcus Semien’s first game in a Sounds uniform was a memorable one as he lifted Nashville past Oklahoma City 5-4 with a two-run, walk-off single. The win snapped a seven-game drought against the Dodgers.

The Sounds jumped out to an early lead as Semien, with the team on a rehab assignment from Oakland, scampered home on a wild pitch from Dodgers starter Scott Barlow. Nashville doubled its lead the next inning. Beau Taylor roped a double down the right field line and came home to score when Yairo Munoz lined a pitch back up the middle into center field.

In the top of the fourth inning Oklahoma City cut the lead in half. Willie Calhoun led off with a soft line drive into center field followed by a ground rule double to straight-away center field from Scott Van Slyke.
