Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The El Paso Chihuahuas scored a pair of runs in the ninth inning to grab an 8-6 win over the Nashville Sounds, spoiling Bark in the Park Night in front of 8,691 humans and 500+ dogs at First Tennessee Park Tuesday night.

Nashville (13-16) scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the eighth to even the game at 6-6 only to see El Paso do the exact same in the ninth to steal a series-clinching win.

Reliever Ross Detwiler started the top of the ninth for the Sounds and got two quick outs before yielding a walk to Diego Goris. The Sounds turned to right-hander Simon Castro out of the bullpen. He hit Dusty Coleman with a pitch, and then allowed consecutive run-scoring singles to Christian Villanueva and Rocky Gale.

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – Another late comeback attempt fell short for the Nashville Sounds in a 5-4 loss to the El Paso Chihuahuas in front of 5,943 fans at First Tennessee Park Monday night.

Renato Nuñez belted a three-run homer in the bottom of the eighth inning to pull the Sounds within a run, but that’s where the game ended up.

Nashville put three runners on after the home run but failed to score. Matt Chapman singled but was caught stealing moments later. After two more reached safely, Ryan LaMarre struck out to end the threat.

Nashville Sounds fall 8-7 at Colorado Springs Sky Sox

 

Multiple Late Leads Not Enough

Nashville SoundsColorado Springs, CO – The Colorado Springs Sky Sox sent the Nashville Sounds to a heart-breaking 8-7 loss in walk-off fashion Friday night at Security Service Field.

Multiple late leads were not enough for the Sounds as Manny Pina’s one-out single in the ninth scored Michael Reed with the winning run.

The Sounds held a 5-1 lead in the eighth inning, and then went up 7-5 in the top of the ninth only to see both leads vanish.

Max Muncy belted a two-run homer in the top of the ninth inning to break a 5-5 tie.

Left-hander Notches 11 Strikeouts in Second Win

Nashville SoundsOklahoma City, OK – Led by Sean Manaea’s 11 strikeouts, the Nashville Sounds edged the Oklahoma City Dodgers, 5-1, Saturday night at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.

The left-hander was two strikeouts shy of tying his career-best 13 he set last season with Double-A Midland. The lone run he allowed was a solo homer hit by James Ramsey in the second inning.

Nashville built a lead before Manaea even took the mound. For the second straight night, Tyler Ladendorf started the game with a base hit and came around to score. This time it was Renato Nunez who drove in Ladendorf with a single up the middle to make it 1-0.

Renato Nunez and Matt Olson Hit First Home Runs

Nashville SoundsOklahoma City, OK – Renato Nunez and Matt Olson hit back-to-back home runs in the sixth inning to lead the Nashville Sounds to a come-from-behind 5-3 win over the Oklahoma City Dodgers Friday night at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.

Nashville trailed, 3-2, when Nunez launched a solo shot off Dodgers reliever Red Patterson to tie the game. Just moments later, Olson drilled his own solo shot over the right field wall to give the Sounds a 4-3 lead.

They never trailed again as they added an insurance run on Nunez’s sacrifice fly in the eighth.

A’s top pitching prospect, Sean Manaea, got the ball in game and was solid from the start. The southpaw went three up and three down in three out of his first four innings. The former Indiana State product got out of a bases loaded jam in the third by striking out Sky Sox left fielder Michael Reed.

Late Rally Falls Short at First Tennessee Park

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – Another late rally by the Nashville Sounds came up short in a 3-1 loss to the Oklahoma City Dodgers Sunday afternoon in front of 4,877 fans at First Tennessee Park.

Oklahoma City (3-1) started the scoring when a pair of infield singles turned into a run in the third inning. Drew Maggi led off the inning with a slow-rolling single past the mound and quickly moved to second on a stolen base. A bunt single by Elian Herrera moved Maggi to third, and Yasmani Grandal plated the first run of the game with a sacrifice fly.

A’s Top Prospects, All-PCL Returnee Joey Wendle & Nashville Native Highlight 2016 Club

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds Baseball Club has announced its tentative Opening Day roster for the 2016 season. The Sounds begin Pacific Coast League play on Thursday, April 7th when they welcome the Oklahoma City Dodgers to First Tennessee Park.

Eight players listed among Oakland’s top-20 prospects (according to Baseball America) will begin the season in Music City. They include: LHP Sean Manaea (No. 2), INF Renato Nunez (No. 4), OF Matt Olson (No. 6), INF Chad Pinder (No. 7), LHP Dillon Overton (No. 8), INF Max Muncy (No. 13), INF Rangel Ravelo (No. 15) and Joey Wendle (No. 17).
