Nashville Sounds hold off Colorado Springs Sky Sox for 3-2 Win

Nashville SoundsColorado Springs, CO – The Nashville Sounds’ win streak reached 12 on Saturday night, as they held on and beat the Colorado Springs Sky Sox 3-2 at Security Service Field. Daniel Mengden tossed 6 1/3 innings, Anthony Garcia drove in all three runs, and Liam Hendriks logged another save. The Sounds have not trailed at any point in their last six games.

For the third time in the series, the Sounds took a quick lead. In the top of the first, Steve Lombardozzi and Dustin Fowler singled, and Garcia brought them home with a single for a 2-0 game.

Nashville SoundsColorado Springs, CO – Chris Bassitt logged seven strong innings, and Franklin Barreto homered for the second consecutive game and went 3-for-4 to lead the Nashville Sounds to their 11th consecutive victory and a 3-1 triumph over the Colorado Springs Sky Sox on Friday night at Security Service Field.

The Sounds have not trailed at any point in their last five games, and they’re outscoring their opponents 64-30 during the 11-game win streak.

Bassitt twirled his second straight dominant outing.

Nashville SoundsColorado Springs, CO – The Nashville Sounds got offensive Thursday night to outlast the Colorado Springs Sky Sox 18-9 at Security Service Field. The win extended Nashville’s season-best winning streak to 10 games, which is the second longest in the franchise’s Pacific Coast League era.

Big innings were plentiful as each team had at least two innings in which they scored at least three runs. Nashville scored five in the first, six in the fourth, and three in the ninth while Colorado Springs posted three in the third and five in the fifth. Sheldon Neuse collected a career-high four hits while Dustin Fowler also recorded four hits on the night.

Nashville Sounds fall to Colorado Springs Sky Sox, 8-1

Nashville SoundsColorado Springs, CO – The Colorado Springs Sky Sox jumped on the Nashville Sounds early and cruised to an 8-1 win at Security Service Field Wednesday afternoon.

Sky Sox catcher Jacob Nottingham set the tone when the launched a three-run homer off Sounds’ starter Eric Jokisch in the bottom of the first inning. The blast came right after a fielding error by Franklin Barreto and a free pass issued by Jokisch. 

The deficit grew to 4-0 in the second when right fielder Nate Orf singled in Keon Broxton. Orf went 4-for-5 on the day and has nine hits through the first three games of the series.

Colorado Springs Sky Sox rally to beat Nashville Sounds, 10-6

Nashville SoundsColorado Springs, CO – A back-and-forth affair in Colorado Springs went to the Sky Sox as the Nashville Sounds dropped a 10-6 decision at Security Service Field Tuesday night.

The Sounds had leads of 2-0 and 5-2, but it wasn’t to be as the Sky Sox came back with a pair of late four-run innings to win game two of the four-game set.

Consecutive run-scoring base hits by Anthony Garcia and Slade Heathcott gave Nashville a 2-0 lead in the fourth inning. Colorado Springs quickly bounced back with a pair of runs against Sounds’ starter Kendall Graveman in the fifth. Keon Broxton’s RBI double made it a 2-1 game, and Nate Orf’s sacrifice fly evened the game at 2-2.

Nashville SoundsColorado Springs, CO – Renato Nuñez launched a pair of home runs and drove in a season-high five runs to help the Nashville Sounds top the Colorado Springs Sky Sox, 11-7, Thursday night at Security Service Field.

The Pacific Coast League All-Star belted a two-run homer in the first, and another two-run blast in the third to bring his season total to a league-high 24. Nuñez finished the night 3-for-5 with five RBI and two runs scored and became the fifth Sounds (41-46) player with a multi-homer game in 2017.

Nashville Sounds game at Colorado Springs Sky Sox Postponed

Nashville SoundsColorado Springs, CO – Tuesday night’s game between the Nashville Sounds and Colorado Springs Sky Sox has been postponed due to rain at Security Service Field.

The game will be made up as part of a doubleheader on July 5th. Game one of the twin bill will begin at 5:30pm (CST) with game two to follow 30 minutes after the completion of game one.

The Sounds have a team off day Wednesday before returning to First Tennessee Park for a five-game homestand against the New Orleans Baby Cakes set to begin on Thursday.

Nashville SoundsColorado Springs, CO – The Nashville Sounds scored in multiple late innings Monday night, but the comeback attempt came up short in an 8-3 loss to the Colorado Springs Sky Sox at Security Service Field.

The offense was stuck in neutral against Sky Sox (12-5) starter Brandon Woodruff who tossed six shutout innings. The Sounds (6-11) managed just three hits off the right-hander but started to show signs of life when they loaded the bases in the sixth only to be turned away.

Trailing 3-0 into the seventh, Nashville’s Renato Nuñez launched his third homer of the season to trim the deficit to 3-1.

Nashville SoundsColorado Springs, CO – The Nashville Sounds won 5-2 in a rain-shortened contest over the Colorado Springs Sky Sox Saturday night at Security Service Field.

Rain and thunderstorms rolled into Colorado Springs in the bottom of the sixth inning Saturday night. After retiring Lewis Brinson via a ground out, Sounds reliever Eduard Santos bounced a fast ball in the dirt with Garrett Cooper batting. Home plate umpire Alex Ortiz then quickly called for the tarp to be put on the field as they rain poured on Security Service Field.

Nashville Sounds win back and forth game against Colorado Springs Sky Sox

 

Nashville SoundsColorado Springs, CO – The Nashville Sounds scored five runs in the fourth and four runs in the seventh in their 12-7 win over the Colorado Springs Sky Sox Friday night at Security Service Field.

Trailing 3-2 entering the fourth, the Sounds plated five runs to take a 7-3 lead over the Sky Sox. Joey Wendle led off the inning with a single to right, and after Colin Walsh struck out, Rangel Ravelo and Bryan Anderson would both walk to load the bases.

Arismendy Alcantara then tied the game at 3-3 on an RBI single scoring Wendle from third. Jaycob Brugman then put the Sounds on top 4-3 with another RBI single to score Ravelo and the bases were loaded yet again for Matt Olson.
