Lamar Alexander says FDA-Approved COVID-19 Vaccine is the Way to Stop More Deaths

U.S. SenateWashington, D.C. – Senate health committee Chairman Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) today said “an FDA-approved COVID-19 Coronavirus vaccine is the way to stop more deaths, while the unpleasant alternative is to let the epidemic run its course until everyone is either killed or recovered,” during this morning’s committee hearing on the role of vaccines in preventing infectious disease outbreaks and protecting public health.

“What is new about dealing with epidemics is modern medicine, including the ability to diagnose the disease and then to create treatments to make it easier to recover,” Alexander continued. “But the true miracle of modern medicine is vaccines, which can prevent humans from acquiring the disease at all.”

Chairman Lamar Alexander says “Stakes are Too High” for Pro-Trump, Anti-Trump Mask Debate to Continue

U.S. SenateWashington, D.C. – Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee Chairman Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) said “the stakes are too high,” for the political debate around wearing masks to continue.

“Unfortunately this simple lifesaving practice has become part of a political debate that says: If you’re for Donald Trump, you don’t wear a mask. If you’re against Trump, you do,” Alexander said. “That is why I have suggested the president should occasionally wear a mask even though there are not many occasions when it is necessary for him to do so. The president has millions of admirers. They would follow his lead.”

The White HouseWashington, D.C. – “President Donald Trump signed the fourth round of coronavirus response legislation Friday—a $484 billion relief bill that will help American small businesses and hospitals, as well as expand coronavirus testing so Americans can get back to work as soon as possible,” former CKE Restaurants CEO Andy Puzder writes in Fox News.

“The lion’s share of the funding – $310 billion – will go directly to the Small Business Administration’s Paycheck Protection Program (PPP), a massively popular program that has already disbursed $350 billion to businesses all over the country,” Puzder says.
