Lamar Alexander: Supporting Supreme Court Justice Nominee Amy Coney Barrett

 

The White HouseWashington, D.C. – During her confirmation hearings, Judge Barrett demonstrated respect for the law, intelligence, good character and steady temperament. Having attended college in Tennessee and law school in Indiana, her background will strengthen the Supreme Court by making it more diverse.

She is well-qualified and has said she will decide cases based upon the law, not her personal views. Judge Barrett will be an excellent Associate Justice of the Supreme Court, and I will vote to confirm her nomination.

ALDI Brings Fresh Shopping Experience to Clarksville

 

ALDIClarksville, TN – After 16 years serving the community, ALDI will open a new Clarksville location, offering a smarter, faster and easier grocery shopping experience. The new store will be located at 1570 Fort Campbell Boulevard, and will replace the current store located at 1626 Fort Campbell Boulevard, which will close its doors on Sunday, March 10th.

To celebrate the new store opening, ALDI will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday, March 14th at 8:45am, followed by its popular Golden Ticket giveaway offering gift cards to the first 100 customers. Shoppers can also sample ALDI-exclusive brand foods and enter a sweepstakes for a chance to win a year’s supply of ALDI produce.

Instant Peay Play: APSU’s Christiana Gable becoming steady offensive threat for Lady Govs softball

 

Legends Bank, Clarksville TNClarksville, TN – With the top three offensive leaders from last season lost to graduation, including three-time first-team All-Ohio Valley Conference performer Lauren de Castro, this year’s Austin Peay softball team was going to have to have several players step up and do their best to replace those numbers lost to graduation.

One of those that have answered the need has been sophomore first baseman Christiana Gable, who has proven through the first half of the season to be among the best in being able to drive runs in when the opportunities presents themselves.

Austin Peay State University Governors Sports - APSUClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University and men’s head basketball coach Dave Loos will join more than 4,000 basketball coaches from across the country as they lace up for the fight against cancer and step out of their loafers, oxfords, and wingtips and into sneakers during games as part of Coaches vs. Cancer Suits and Sneakers Awareness Weekend, set for January 24th-26th.

LBL “No Hunting” Zones Open to Archery Deer Hunting

 

Land Between the Lakes - LBLGolden Pond, KY – Land Between The Lakes (LBL) National Recreation Area will open certain areas typically marked as “No Hunting” zones for archery deer hunting. Hunters are encouraged to harvest antlerless deer in these areas to reduce deer populations.

Kentucky areas will be open to archery hunting from December 1st through January 20th, including Hillman Ferry and Energy Lake campgrounds. Tennessee areas will be open to archery hunting from December 1st through January 5th and include Brandon Spring Group Center, Piney Campground, and the South Nature Watch Demonstration Area in the eastern portion of Hunt Area 16.

Clarksville’s Bashaara Graves shines in USA Women’s U19 World Championship

 

USA BasketballLanzarote, Canary Islands – Following a week-long training camp in Colorado Springs, CO, the 2013 USA Women’s U19 World Championship Team (1-0) got its first taste of competition in the 2013 Lanzarote International Invitational, earning a 71-66 exhibition game victory over a tough Australian (0-1) squad.

The game was played on Friday night at the Teguise Arena in Lanzarote. The round-robin tournament continues on Saturday when Australia and Canada square off at 1:00pm ET (6:00pm in Lanzarote) and the U.S. takes on Spain at 3:00pm ET (8:00pm in Lanzarote).

“Here’s to Heroes” Fundraiser at Tilted Kilt in Clarksville

 

Tilted KiltClarksville, TN – Budweiser and Tilted Kilt kicked off their 3rd annual fundraising program, “Here’s to Heroes” on May 27th.  The fundraiser is designed to raise money for the Folds of Honor Foundation which seeks to provide educational scholarships to family members and dependents of fallen or injured soldiers.

For a six week period, customers are given an opportunity to purchase a $1.00 or $5.00 paper dog tag to be personally customized and displayed on the pub walls.
