Nashville, TN – Matt Davidson hit a walk-off sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 13th inning to give the Nashville Sounds a 6-5 win over the San Antonio Missions in the season finale Monday afternoon, September 2nd, 2019 at First Tennessee Park.
Davidson hit a 1-1 pitch from catcher-turned-pitcher Tuffy Gosewisch into left field. It was deep enough to score Andy Ibanez from third with the winning run. Nashville finished the 2019 campaign with a 66-72 record.
Nashville, TN – In the last night game of the season for the Nashville Sounds, Tim Dillard pitched a gem against the San Antonio Missions, throwing 125 pitches and allowed three runs in seven innings while striking out nine. The Sounds won 7-3 in front of 11,348 at First Tennessee Park.
San Antonio scored a run in the top of the first inning during their first two at bats. Corey Ray led the game off with a single and scored on an RBI triple by Blake Allemand. The Sounds responded immediately in the bottom-half of the first inning, scoring two runs on two hits, a hit-by-pitch and an error. The Sounds led 2-1 after the first.
Omaha, NE – The Nashville Sounds took down the Omaha Storm Chasers Wednesday night at Werner Park, 6-1. Nashville’s Matt Davidson and Jett Bandy hit back-to-back home runs and Wes Benjamin logged another quality start to lead the Sounds to victory.
One night after reaching safely all five times, Davidson stayed locked in at the plate with this 31st home run of the season and three more RBI to bring his total to 94. He had two of Nashville’s 14 hits against Omaha pitching.
Davidson helped the Sounds build an early lead when his double into the left-center gap in the top of the first scored Andy Ibanez and Patrick Wisdom to make it a 2-0 game.
Omaha, NE – Nashville Sounds fall to the Omaha Storm Chasers 8-5 Tuesday night at Werner Park. The Storm Chasers collected five hits – including three triples – off Nashville starter Tim Dillard in the opening inning to jump out to an early four run lead.
Adalberto Mondesi, Chase d’Arnaud and Erich Weiss had triples and Rudy Martin added a double as the Storm Chasers opened an early 4-0 lead.
Nashville got a run back in the second and trimmed the deficit to 4-1 when Jett Bandy lined a two-out single to right-center to score Matt Davidson.
Des Moines, IA – Nashville Sounds catcher Tim Federowicz broke a 1-1 tie with a two-run single in the top of the ninth inning on Friday night, and starter Wes Benjamin and three relievers stymied the Iowa offense, propelling the Sounds to a 3-1 win over the I-Cubs at Principal Park. The Sounds are 4-0 on their final road trip of the season and have won 13 of their last 15 games overall.
The Sounds scored in the first inning and ninth inning, and that was enough for the win. Zack Granite led off the game with a walk, stole second and scored on a double by Andy Ibanez to make it 1-0 against Adbert Alzolay.
Oklahoma City, OK – The Nashville Sounds and Oklahoma City Dodgers Thursday night game was cancelled due to inclement weather at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. This was the final series of the season between both teams, with the Sounds finishing 9-6 against the Dodgers in 2019.
It’s the second consecutive year Nashville beat Oklahoma City in the season series. Last year, the Sounds beat the Dodgers 9-7. It’s the fifth season series taken by Nashville, along with Memphis, Las Vegas, Sacramento and Tacoma
Nashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds were unable to complete a four-game sweep against the Omaha Storm Chasers Sunday night at First Tennessee Park, losing 7-4. Nashville scored runs in the eighth and ninth inning but were unable to stage a comeback.
Nick Solak led off the bottom of the first inning with the second inning. Scott Heineman scored Solak with his eighth home run of the season. That put Nashville up 2-0 early.
Taylor Featherston scored the first run of the game for Omaha with a solo home run in the top of the third inning. It was his first hit this season for the Storm Chasers. That cut Nashville’s lead 2-1.
Nashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds were tied 3-3 with the Omaha Storm Chasers when in the bottom of the eighth, Tim Federowicz cranked his first home run of the season to give the team a 4-3 lead and the win.
The first run of the game was scored by the Sounds in the bottom of the first inning. Nick Solak led off with a single to extend his hitting streak to 17 games. After a Ronald Guzman walk, Solak scored on an RBI single by Matt Davidson for the Sounds’ early 1-0 lead.
Solak also led the third inning off with a single and Andy Ibanez followed him with his own single to make it first and third with nobody out. Solak scored after Guzman grounded into a double play. It was then 2-0, Nashville.
Sacramento, CA – The Nashville Sounds crushed a season-high six home runs on Saturday night, including two more from Patrick Wisdom, and routed the Sacramento River Cats 13-3 in the opener of a four-game set at Raley Field. The Sounds are 4-0 so far on their seven-game California road trip and haven’t trailed at any point.
The game was tied 1-1 in the third when the Sounds began their home run barrage. Andy Ibanez and Nick Solak each hit a two-run homer off Justin Haley to make it 5-1. Then Wisdom homered for the sixth consecutive game, going back-to-back with Solak for a 6-1 advantage. Zack Granite later added an RBI single in the six-run frame.
Fresno, CA – The Nashville Sounds cruised to a 5-1 win against the Fresno Grizzlies at Chukchansi Park Friday night. Patrick Wisdom had three hits, including his 24th home run of the season. Wisdom’s big night at the plate helped the Sounds to the three-game sweep, their second series sweep of 2019.
Wisdom’s long ball was his sixth in his last five games, and his 18th in his last 40 contests. He has homered in five consecutive games.
The designated hitter had previously knocked in the first run of the game with an RBI double in the second inning. The home run was a solo blast and gave Nashville a 2-1 lead after five frames.
