Tennessee Vols basketball defeats Vanderbilt, 70-58

 

Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsNashville, TN – Two 20-point scoring outputs from junior Victor Bailey Jr. and freshman Jaden Springer, along with a double-double from senior Yves Pons, pushed the No. 25 Tennessee men’s basketball team past Vanderbilt, 70-58, Wednesday inside Memorial Gym.

The win was Tennessee’s (16-6, 9-6 SEC) eighth consecutive victory over Vanderbilt (6-13, 2-11 SEC) and UT’s fifth straight in the Commodores’ home gym.

The Vols were led by Bailey Jr., who poured in 21 points on 7-of-14 shooting and 5-of-8 from 3-point range. The Austin, Texas, native also added three rebounds and three assists.

Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsKnoxville, TN – The No. 19 Tennessee men’s basketball team fell to Kentucky, 70-55, in a tough afternoon affair Saturday at Thompson-Boling Arena.

Tennessee (15-6, 8-6 SEC) was plagued by a difficult day of shooting from the field, knocking down just 18 of its 56 attempts, while Kentucky (8-13, 7-7 SEC) connected on 50 percent (7-14) of its attempts from 3-point range.

Vols guard Victor Bailey Jr. led the Vols in scoring—for the second consecutive game and for the seventh time this season—with 18 points on 5-of-10 shooting. He was 4-of-8 from the 3-point range.

Tennessee Vols Basketball loses on the road to Ole Miss, 52-50

 

Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsOxford, MS – Despite an efficient night from 3-point range and a solid effort on the defensive end, the 11th-ranked Tennessee Vols basketball team fell on the road to Ole Miss, 52-50, on Tuesday at The Pavilion.

The Vols (12-4, 5-4 SEC) shot 44 percent from behind the 3-point arc, but a second-half run from Ole Miss (9-8, 4-6 SEC) pushed the Rebels to their ninth win of the year.

The Vols were led in scoring for the fourth consecutive game by senior Yves Pons who scored 13 points on 5-of-9 shooting while knocking down two of his three attempts from 3-point land. Pons also pulled down four rebounds and recorded a steal.

#18 Tennessee Men’s Basketball scorches #15 Kansas, 80-61

 

Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsKnoxville, TN – A 53 percent shooting performance and a dominant rebounding effort pushed the 18th-ranked Tennessee Volunteers basketball team past No. 15 Kansas, 80-61, on Saturday at Thompson-Boling Arena. The victory clinched this year’s SEC/Big 12 Challenge for the SEC, 5-4.

The Volunteers (12-3) ripped down 38 rebounds, out-rebounding the Jayhawks by 15 and holding Kansas (11-6) to zero second-chance points.

Tennessee was also lights out from both 3-point range (8 of 13) and the foul line (16 of 17).
