APSU hosting the 58th Annual Middle Tenn. Science and Engineering Fair

Austin Peay State University LogoNearly 160 middle and high school students throughout middle Tennessee will flood Austin Peay State University this week to participate and compete in the 58th annual Middle Tennessee Science and Engineering Fair (MTSEF).

The MTSEF, affiliated with the International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF), starts Thursday, March 18. The public is invited to view all MTSEF projects between 10 a.m.-8 p.m., Friday, March 29 in the Morgan University Center Ballroom.

The awards ceremony will be held at 6:30 p.m., Monday, April 5 in the Morgan University Center Ballroom.

This marks the seventh year that APSU has hosted the MTSEF. The fair provides a forum for middle and high school students in the region to exhibit their scientific and engineering projects. The projects can be by individuals or by teams.

Student projects are considered for more than 150 awards totaling in excess of $6,000. The awards are given in various scientific and engineering categories as well as special awards from local, national and international sponsors.

With expenses paid by APSU, the top two projects in grades 9-12, called the grand prize winners, will be sent to San Jose, Calif., later this spring to compete in the ISEF. More than 1,500 students from 50 countries compete at the ISEF for more than $3 million in prizes and scholarships.
