Tennis Govs win second-straight OVC match

Murray, KY – Austin Peay State University men’s tennis team closed out a pivotal Ohio Valley Conference weekend with a 6-1 win at Murray State, Sunday.

It was the Govs second-straight OVC win, improving them to 5-1 in league play with one match to play until the conference tournament. Austin Peay won two doubles matches, carried the momentum into singles play and won five of six singles matches.

The primary disappointment for the Govs came with a loss at No. 1 doubles. However, the Govs picked up their top doubles team with wins at Nos. 2 and 3. Freshmen Jasmin Ademovic and Remi Calleja won 8-5 at No. 2 while sophomore John Storie and freshman Joao Pagan earned an 8-3 win at No. 3.

Sophomores Henrique Norbiato and Sean Bailey were unaffected by the doubles loss when singles play came around. Norbiato won his fourth consecutive straight-set match at No. 1 singles. Bailey moved up to No. 2 singles for the first time this season and won a tough match over Luka Milicevic in straight sets.

Ademovic played a strong match at No. 3 singles, while Pagan won his second-straight match at No. 4 singles. Storie also picked up his second-straight win at No. 6.
