Clarksville Parks and RecreationClarksville, TN – The weekly Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department Recreation Report provides Clarksvillians with a glimpse at the activities and events that are available from the Parks and Recreation Department for them to enjoy together as a family.

Recreation Guides Available Now!

Want to find out more about Parks and Recreation programs and classes or how to reserve a park pavilion for your child’s birthday party? All of this information and more can be found in our 2011 Fall Recreation Guide that is now available. Pick up your FREE copy at our main office on Public Square or at any of our three community centers. Also, registration for programs, classes and other activities is now available online at recpro.cityofclarksville.com.

Extended Pool Season

Both New Providence and Beachaven pools will remain open to the public on weekends until September 4th. Visit www.cityofclarksville.com for more information.

Hours

Beachaven: Fridays 5:00pm – 8:00pm, Saturdays 10:00am – 6:00pm, Sundays 1:00pm – 6:00pm.

New Providence: Fridays 5:00pm – 8:00pm, Saturdays 10:00am – 7:00pm, Sundays 1:00pm – 6:00pm.

Pooch Pool Party

Patrons and their pups are invited to join in on the first-ever Pooch Pool Party from 1:00pm to 4:00pm August 13th at Swan Lake Pool, located at 2002 Sanders Road. Dogs will be able to take a dip in the pool and their owners can visit with dog-related businesses and organizations from around town. All dogs must be at least 6 months old and have proof of current vaccinations. Ramps will be available to provide easy access to the pool for the dogs. Cost for Pool Pooch Party is $3.00 per dog. Owners are limited to one dog per person.

Teens Only-Party at the Pool

Summer is coming to a close, so gather your friends and come “Party at the Pool” from 6:00pm to 9:00pm August 13th at New Providence Pool. This is the final event of our “Party in the Park” summer series just for teens that has been held at different locations where teens can enjoy music, games and more in a safe environment. Admission is free and open to teens 15 to 18.

45-and-Over Softball League

Come and play in this exciting new Men’s Adult 45-and-Over Softball League. Register your team today with a deposit of $100.00 per team. Deposits are due August 19th. All games are played at Heritage Park. For more information, please call the Parks & Recreation Main Office at 931.645.7476 today!

Seeking Volunteers!

Each and every year, in order to ensure a successful festival, Riverfest counts on volunteers from the community. We would love for you or your organization to help make Riverfest 2011 a success! If interested, please go to www.clarksvilleriverfest.com and submit the online volunteer application.

Vote for Clarksville’s Downtown Market- Today!

Come to Public Square from 8:00am to 1:00pm this Saturday for the Clarksville Downtown Market. The market features fresh, locally grown produce, nursery stock, handmade craft items, and other seasonal commodities. After visiting, be sure to go online to www.farmland.org/vote to cast your vote to select Clarksville’s Downtown Market as “America’s Favorite Farmers Market.” The contest ends August 31st!
