Clarksville Parks and Recreation Report for October 2nd, 2016

Clarksville Parks and Recreation DepartmentClarksville, TN – The weekly Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department Recreation Report provides Clarksvillians with a glimpse at the activities and events that are available from the Parks and Recreation Department for them to enjoy together as a family.

This weeks highlights include: Teen Takeover, Youth Basketball League and Handmade Holidays Vendor Applications.

Youth Basketball League

Clarksville Parks and Recreation's Youth Basketball League

Is your child interested in playing basketball this winter? The Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department is proud to offer a Youth Basketball League for boys and girls ages 7 to 15.

The fee is $65.00 per participant. Each player will receive a jersey, water bottle and award.

Practices will be held at local school gymnasiums beginning November 1st and games will be held each Saturday beginning December 3rd at the Burt-Cobb Community Center, Crow Community Center and the Kleeman Community Center. The season will run approximately eight weeks.

Registration for the league opened September 2nd and is available online at www.cityofclarksville.com/parksrec. Registration is also available in-person at the City’s Recreation Centers, as well as at Clarksville Parks and Recreation, located at 102 Public Square. First-time registrants must provide child’s birth certificate for age verification.

Interested in a leadership role on the court? Clarksville Parks and Recreation is seeking coaches! Our youth leagues rely heavily on the generosity of parents and volunteers to provide coaching support. There is no experience required and training will be provided.

Teen Takeover

The Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department is excited to host the 2nd Annual Teen Takeover, a night exclusively devoted to teens. Teen Takeover will feature a video gaming area hosted by Game Stop, DJ Entertainment, giveaways, food, human bubble balls, and plenty of room to relax and hang out with friends.

The event is open to teens ages 13-17, and will be happening Friday, October 14th from 6:00pm to 8:30pm at the Wilma Rudolph Event Center.

Teens can enjoy the on board theater, major video game consoles, and an interactive Rock Stage. Laser tag will also be on site from 6:30pm-7:30pm, provided by Gamez on Wheelz Clarksville.

The event is $5.00 per person and pre-registration is encouraged! Purchase your ticket now online at the event website.

Handmade Holidays Vendor Applications

Handmade Holidays

The Clarksville Parks and Recreation is currently seeking craft vendors to participate in Handmade Holidays.

Handmade Holidays is a two-day, indoor designer craft market featuring more than 60 of the best independent artists, designers, and crafters from the area. This year’s event will take place at the Wilma Rudolph Event Center on Saturday, November 12th from 9:00am to 4:00pm and Sunday, November 13th from noon to 4:00pm.

The cost for a vendor is $100.00 and includes a 10×10 space, 8’ table and two chairs. Vendors interested in participating can apply online at www.cityofclarksville.com/craftfair by Friday, October 14th. To be eligible, all items must be handmade in the USA by the vendor, or the character of the item must be substantially altered or embellished by the vendor.

Submitting a Handmade Holidays vendor application does not grant any guarantee of acceptance or exclusivity. Vendors will be considered on a first-come first-serve basis and based on the needs of the event. Vendors will be notified of acceptance on October 19th.
