Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University men’s golf team looks to find the right combination this week for the Skyhawk Invitational, hosted by UT Martin at Paris Landing Golf Course in Buchanan, Tennessee.
The 54-hole event features 36 holes with an 8:00am shotgun start, Monday, followed by an 8:00am final-round shotgun start, Tuesday.
The top of the Austin Peay lineup has been pretty well solidified, with junior Justin Arens and senior Erik Hedberg emerging as the top two in the Governors lineup. Arens in particular looks to build on a second-round 67 he posted two weeks ago at the Inverness Intercollegiate.
Following an excellent debut at Inverness that saw him finish just two shots behind Hedberg, sophomore Sean Butscher will be back in the lineup this week; he opened his 2016 with a first-round 76 at Inverness, tied with Arens for the team lead after 18 holes.
The bottom of the lineup will see some turnover again this week; junior Hunter Tidwell slots back in as the No. 4 after being one of three Govs to shoot all three rounds in the 70s at the season-opening Joe Feaganes Invitational, September 12th-13th. In the No. 5 spot, sophomore Sam Lopez will make his career debut in the lineup.
A trio of freshmen—Austin Lancaster, Michael Busse and Alex Vegh—will compete as individuals this week.
The Govs will take next week off before returning to action when they host the 2016 F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate, October 17th-18th, at Greystone Golf Club in Dickson.
