Knoxville, TN – No. 12/13 Tennessee made history on defense when it held Central Arkansas scoreless in the fourth quarter and to 10 total second-half points in a 77-34 victory on Thursday night in Thompson-Boling Arena.
The Sugar Bears (3-2) came into the game averaging 78.8 points per game on .504 shooting from the field, but the Lady Vols’ best defensive effort since the season-opening ETSU game limited Central Arkansas to only 23.7 percent shooting from the field. The zero points scored by UCA in the final stanza of the game was the first time UT (7-0) has ever held an opponent scoreless in a quarter. The 10 points allowed in the second half also stood as a program best.
101st Airborne Division (Air Assault)
Fort Campbell, KY – The 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), the first unit to receive the Army’s new Modular Handgun System, began fielding the M17 and M18 pistols, November 28th, 2017.
“This is another 101st first,” said Maj. Gen. Andrew P. Poppas, 101st ABN DIV (AASLT) commander. “Our 75-year legacy is full of landmark moments like this.”
Poppas, along with Command Sgt. Maj. Todd W. Sims, 101st ABN DIV (AASLT) senior enlisted leader, Brig. Gen. John W. Brennan, 101st ABN DIV (AASLT) deputy commanding general for operations, Brig. Gen. K. Todd Royar, 101st ABN DIV (AASLT) deputy commanding general for support and 25 Soldiers from 1st Brigade Combat Team, fired the M17 at the 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne) indoor range after receiving preliminary marksmanship instruction the day prior.
Birmingham, AL – The Tennessee football team will start the 2018 season in Charlotte against West Virginia at Bank of America Stadium on September 1st and wrap up the regular season at Vanderbilt on November 24th, as the SEC announced the 2018 schedules for all 14 conference schools on Tuesday.
Montgomery County, TN – Thanks to a grant from Clarksville Montgomery County Community Health Foundation acquired by students from Clarksville Academy in partnership with Montgomery County Parks and Recreation, Phase II of the Rotary Park Disc Golf Project has been completed.
The course is now 18-holes with a red and yellow basket for each of the 18 concrete tees, giving players of all ages and skill levels an opportunity to enjoy the game.

Clarksville, TN – Clarksville Police are trying to locate a runaway juvenile Isaac Mendoza, 17, 5’6, 140lbs, Black Hair, Brown Eyes. He was reported missing in July 19th, 2017.
Police have been investigating and trying to locate the runaway juvenile since he ran away, but have not been able to locate him.
If anyone sees Isaac Mendoza, call 911.
‘Christmas Around the World’ leads big list of City activities
Clarksville, TN – Celebrate “Christmas Around the World” and cheer on Coach Will Healy, architect of Austin Peay State University’s amazing 2017 football success, at the 58th Annual Clarksville Christmas Parade beginning at 5:00pm Saturday, December 2nd in Downtown Clarksville.
Healy, whose Governors gift-wrapped an 8-4 turnaround season for fans, will be this year’s grand marshal. He’ll be surrounded by an array of floats and parade entries embracing the “Christmas Around the World Theme” through music, dress and decor.

Nashville, TN – The Tennessee Titans (7-4) return home this week to face the AFC South rival Houston Texans (4-7). Kickoff at Nissan Stadium (capacity 69,143) is scheduled for noon CST on Sunday, December 3rd, 2017.
The Titans hope for a split in the twice-a-year series. In the first matchup, played October 1st at NRG Stadium, the Texans won 57-14. The Titans own a narrow 16-15 advantage in the all-time series.
Nashville, TN – The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) reports that in Montgomery County on Sunday, December 3rd from 8:00pm until 5:00am, there will be a lane closure on Highway 48 in both directions from LM 9-12 and SR 76 in both directions from LM 9-24 for street sweeping.
At least one lane will remain open.
Montgomery County, TN – On Wednesday, November 22nd, 2017 the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC) approved 4,000,000 cubic yards of class 1 air space to Bi-County Solid Waste Management. The additional space equates to 12 years of class I airspace at the current volume of waste received.
Volume can change based upon gate rates, separate contract vehicles, or technology’s impact on what we dispose of and what we recycle or apply to other purposes.
