Austin Peay State University Track and Field play in Joey Haines Invitational, Florida Relays this weekend

APSU Women's Track and FieldClarksville, TN – A split group will represent Austin Peay State University track and field at a pair of events this weekend, with the Govs slated to have athletes in action at the Joey Haines Invitational, hosted by Southeast Missouri, and at the prestigious Florida Relays in Gainesville, Florida.

The group making the journey to Florida is small but features some of the most acclaimed student-athletes Austin Peay has produced over the years.

Nashville Predators defeat San Jose Sharks 5-3

 

Nashville PredatorsNashville, TN – They don’t get any easier at this stage of the NHL season, but the Nashville Predators, behind goalie Juuse Saros, gutted out the win over the San Jose Sharks at Bridgestone Arena, 5-3 tonight. 

The win prevents the Sharks from clinching a playoff spot. 

Back up goalie Juuse Saros, who started in place of Pekka Rinne, put on a clinic in goal with 39 saves. 

The win gives Nashville 111 points on the season as their quest for the President’s Trophy continues.  Players and coaches have made no secret that they want that trophy and with it, home ice for the Stanley Cup playoffs.

Clarksville-Montgomery County area TDOT Maintenance Work starting March 29th, 2018

 

Tennessee Department of Transportation - TDOTNashville, TN – The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) reports that in Montgomery County there will be grading, drainage, construction of welded steel plate girder bridge, retaining wall and paving on Highway 149 and Highway 13 from River Road to Zinc Plant Road continuing daily from 9:00am until 3:00pm.

There will be temporary lane closure with flagging operations on Highway 13 for construction of new haul road.

APSU Softball hosts doubleheader against Tennessee Tech, Friday

APSU SoftballClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s softball team will host Tennessee Tech for a doubleheader at 3:00pm on Friday at Cheryl Holt Field to open the home part of their 2018 Ohio Valley Conference schedule.

The Govs (18-9, 3-1 OVC) currently sit in a tie for third-place in the OVC standings after taking three of four on the road at Morehead State and Eastern Kentucky this past weekend, while Tennessee Tech enters Friday’s doubleheader with a 9-21 overall record — including a 0-4 mark in OVC play.

Southside Homeowners May Experience Reduced Insurance Rates Beginning in April

 

New ISO Rating Expected to Reduce Insurance Rates

Montgomery County Government TennesseeMontgomery County, TN – Homeowners in the Southside area of Montgomery County who live near the newly built Cunningham Volunteer Fire Rescue substation have a new reason to celebrate the addition of the station, which opened in October 2017.

Montgomery County Volunteer Fire Service recently went through the recertification process with Insurance Services Office, Inc. (ISO). The ISO program provides the criteria for the Fire Suppression Rating Schedule.

ISO scores range between Protection Class 1, being the best evaluation, to Protection Class 10 as the lowest.

Members of Cunningham Volunteer Fire Rescue, Fire Protection Committee, County Commissioners, Sheriff John Fuson, and community members attended the ribbon cutting. Mayor Durrett was unable to attend because of a budget committee meeting.

APSU Baseball OVC Season opener against Southeast Missouri postponed due to Weather

APSU BaseballClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University athletics department and baseball team has postponed its scheduled Thursday Ohio Valley Conference series opener against Southeast Missouri due to forecast inclement weather.

The game will be played as part of a 1:00pm, Friday doubleheader at Raymond C. Hand Park.

Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office makes Burglary and Drug Arrest

 

Montgomery County Sheriff's Office - MCSOClarksville, TN – Investigators with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office have arrested six individuals in connection to a string of burglaries that occurred in the Woodlawn and Indian Mound areas.

The burglaries occurred between March 8th and March 15th, 2018 at two homes in the 4000 block of Cumberland City Road, a home in the 3000 block of Cooper Creek Road, and a home in the 3000 block of York Landing Road.

Items stolen include multiple firearms, military ballistic plates, nearly 2500 round of ammunition, electronics, and approximately $15,000 in jewelry.

Nashville Zoo’s Eggstravaganzoo this Saturday, March 31st

 

Nashville ZooNashville, TN – Families from all over Middle Tennessee will be hopping to Nashville Zoo for the 20th annual Eggstravaganzoo. The spring festival that boasts the largest egg hunt in town is set for Saturday, March 31st, 2018 from 9:00am – 4:00pm.

During Eggstravaganzoo, kids can partake in one of 10 scheduled egg hunts held throughout the day on the Festival Field. 

Other activities throughout the day include a Zoo-wide hunt for golden eggs, animal egg hunts, bounce houses, face painting and sponsor-provided activities.
