Stewart kept the Govs on the front foot with two great efforts on goal in the 35th and 37th minutes, but the West Alabama goalkeeper saved both spectacularly.

Shortly before halftime, the Tigers equalized after a free kick taken from the wing lofted high into the net. Set pieces continued to be the Achilles heel for the Govs as the Tigers took the lead for good in the 79th minute off a corner.

The Govs officially open their season, Friday, against Middle Tennessee at home. The match, like all home Govs games, are free admission. There are bleachers for seating but fans are encouraged to bring their own chairs.
