Land Between the Lakes Storm Debris being cleared by U.S. Forest Service

Land Between the Lakes - LBLLand Between the Lakes, KY/TN – While the U.S. Forest Service and electric company crews continue removing storm damage from power lines, roads and campgrounds at Land Between the Lakes (LBL), certain areas will be closed for several days.

Three severe storms with high winds, heavy rains and lightening crossed Land Between the Lakes beginning Friday. Forest Service crews began clearing roads on Friday but many trees continue to fall and create dangerous situations.

Barricades block roads with identified hazardous snagged or downed trees.

“We’re working with many partners to get downed trees cleared to open roads and restore power across Land Between the Lakes,” said Tina Tilley, U.S. Forest Service area manager.

“The multiple storms left many snagged trees and limbs that continue to fall with just a little bit of breeze. We need the public to observe barricades and not venture into closed areas,” Tilley stated.

A complete list of current closures is available online at

Forest Service crews are highly trained at felling hazardous trees and ask the public to observe barricades and avoid trees snagged and ready to fall. The Forest Service reminds the public that it is extremely dangerous to approach downed or damaged power lines. Do not attempt to clear debris from any power line. All power lines should be treated as energized and deadly.
