Clarksville, TN – On Thursday, September 19th, 2019, at the Austin Peay State University (APSU) Margaret Fort Trahern Laboratory Theatre veteran film actor Jerry Winsett will lead a masterclass workshop, “Auditioning for the Camera,” at 3:30pm. Anyone in the community can watch the workshop for free.
The workshop serves as a masterclass for students in the APSU Department of Theatre and Dance careers class.
The students will receive audition lines the day before the workshop, where they’ll perform their audition. Winsett will direct the students through their initial read on the script and show them what it takes to perform a successful and competitive on-camera audition.
“This is just another example of the excellent preparation that APSU Theatre and Dance students receive that gives them a leg up as they enter the industry and why the Theatre and Dance Department is making a name for itself on the national stage,” said Sara Anderson, adjunct instructor and box office manager for the Department of Theatre and Dance.
Winsett graduated from Austin Peay State University’s theatre and dance program before becoming a recognizable face in films, TV shows and theaters across the country. His recent film credits include “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri,” “Finding Steven McQueen,” “The Inspectors” and “Iron Man 3.” He’s also in two upcoming feature films, “Drought” and “Remember Yesterday.”
The workshop will be two hours, and seating is first come, first served. To be considered for a slot to work with Winsett in scene work, email Talon Beeson at . Theatre and Dance and the APSU Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts (CECA) is hosting the event.
