Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUPaducah, KY – Senior Jasmin Ademovic was named first-team All-Ohio Valley Conference for the fourth time, Wednesday, becoming the first player in program history to earn first-team honors in each of his four Austin Peay seasons.

Austin Peay State University has Four Athletes earn All-OVC honors

Austin Peay State UniversityPaducah, KY – For the second year in a row, four Austin Peay State University men’s tennis players have earned All-Ohio Valley Conference honors. The conference announced their honors at the annual awards banquet prior to the OVC Tennis Tournament Championship.

Senior Sean Bailey, junior Jasmin Ademovic and sophomore Dimitar Ristovski earned first-team honors, as voted by the conference coaches. Sophomore Aleksas Tverijonas claimed a spot on the second team. It’s the second time in three years the Govs have placed three on the first team, with Ademovic, Bailey and Henrique Norbiato earning first-team honors in 2011.

Austin Peay State University GovernorsClarksville, TN – In gaining a No. 2 seed for the second straight year, Austin Peay State University men’s tennis team begins its Ohio Valley Conference Championship bid, 10:00am, when it faces No. 3 seed Eastern Kentucky at Nashville’s Centennial Park.

EKU tops Govs in OVC Tennis Championship

Austin Peay State University GovernorsPaducah, KY – Experience outlasted youth in Sunday’s Ohio Valley Conference Tennis Championship match as Austin Peay State University men’s tennis team dropped a 4-1 match to Eastern Kentucky.

As regular-season champions, the Colonels (21-4) entered the tournament as the outright favorite, sporting an undefeated league record and a team comprised of juniors and seniors. In fact, the 2011 title was the second-straight for EKU and, like they did last season, the Colonels will represent the OVC in the NCAA Tennis Championships.

Tennis Govs head north to resume OVC play

 

APSU Men’s Tennis

Austin Peay State University GovernorsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University men’s tennis team is set to resume Ohio Valley Conference play with a 2:00pm, Friday match at Eastern Kentucky, followed by a 2:00pm, Saturday match at Morehead State.

The Govs have one of the OVC’s youngest teams, led by a pair of sophomores in Sean Bailey and Henrique Norbaito. Not only were the two sophomores both ranked in the league’s preseason top-10, they opened the season with nine-straight doubles wins at the Govs top spot. It has been their strong play that has led to Austin Peay’s rejuvenation in doubles.
