Austin Peay State University Basketball’s Terry Taylor named to Gulf Coast Showcase All-Tournament team

 

APSU Men's BasketballEstero, FL – Austin Peay State University (APSU) men’s basketball senior forward Terry Taylor has been named to the All-Tournament team at the #BeachBubble Gulf Coast Showcase after an incredible start to the 2020-21 campaign.

For the tournament, Taylor averaged 22.7 points and 12.7 rebounds on 61.2 percent (30-for-49) shooting.

Richview Lady Cowboys Charge Past Kenwood Lady Knights 33-28 to win Middle School Basketball Tournament

 

Richview Middle SchoolClarksville TN – The Richview Lady Cowboys were the last team standing in the Girls side of the Middle School Basketball Tournament at West Creek Middle School. They defeated the Kenwood Lady Knights, 33-28, in the Championship Game Thursday, January 30th.

The two teams battled to a 26-26 tie in the fourth period. Then, Richview’s Brittney Hudson made back-to-back baskets as part of a 6-0 run to give the Lady Cowboys a 32-26 lead. The Lady Knights scored only two more points the rest of the game.

Instant Peay Play: APSU Lady Govs Volleyball’s Sammie Ebright coming into her own after a year on the sidelines

 

Legends Bank, Clarksville TNClarksville, TN – With Ohio Valley Conference play just beginning for the Austin Peay State University volleyball team, red-shirt freshman Sammie Ebright is starting to be a force for the Lady Govs after watching from the sidelines last year.

Ebright, a 6-foot outside hitter from Sunbury, OH, is currently second on the team in total kills with 113 and leads the team in attack percentage at .188 for players with at least 300 attack attempts.

APSU Men’s Golf team wins rain shortened OVC Tournament

 

Austin Peay State University Governors SportsDickson, TN – For the second time in three years Mother Nature prevented the final round of the Ohio Valley Conference Men’s Golf Championship from being played. With heavy rains throughout the area overnight and into Saturday, third round play never got underway and Austin Peay was declared the 2013 champions.

University of Tennessee to retire Dale Ellis’ Jersey in ceremony next year

 

UT VolsKnoxville, TN – The University of Tennessee plans to honor legendary men’s basketball player Dale Ellis by retiring his No. 14 jersey during a home game next season, the Tennessee athletics department announced Thursday.

Ellis – a two-time first-team All-American – will become the fourth player to be permanently honored in the Thompson-Boling Arena rafters. He joins Bernard King (No. 53), Ernie Grunfeld (No. 22) and Allan Houston (No. 20).

Austin Peay State University infielder Reed Harper named finalist for 2013 Senior Class Award

 

Austin Peay State University GovernorsClarksville, TN – Infielder Reed Harper has been named one of 30 baseball finalists for the 2013 Senior CLASS Award®.

An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School®, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence – community, classroom, character and competition.

Austin Peay Lady Govs Volleyball travels to Western Kentucky, Tuesday

Austin Peay State University Lady GovsBowling Green, KY – Austin Peay State University’s volleyball team quickly returns to action when it travels to Western Kentucky for a 7:00pm, Tuesday contest at E.A. Diddle Arena.

Austin Peay (1-3) got the season off to an auspicious start, defeating Memphis for only the second time in program history. However, the Lady Govs could not maintain that momentum, dropping a five-set match to UALR before falling to both Southern Illinois and Eastern Michigan.
