Lamar Alexander says Ayers Foundation Has Discovered “Secret Sauce” for Raising College Graduation Rates

 

U.S. SenateParons, TN – United States Senator Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) said Jim and Janet Ayers discovered the “secret sauce” for raising college graduation rates.

“Jim and Janet Ayers wanted to give more rural Tennesseans more educational opportunities – so in 1999 the Ayers Foundation started giving out scholarships, and they had counselors too, but what they learned over time is that if they really wanted to improve graduation rates, counselors are the solution,” Senator Alexander said.

Ayers Foundation makes gift to Tennessee Wildlife Federation to fight Asian Carp

 

Ayers FoundationNashville, TN – The Ayers Foundation, created in 1999 to sustain and significantly improve the quality of life in Tennessee, has made a notable gift to Tennessee Wildlife Federation in support of its efforts to fight invasive Asian carp in the state’s waters.

Tennessee Wildlife Federation is one of the largest and oldest nonprofits dedicated to conserving the state’s wildlife and natural resources. Its public policy work has increasingly focused on Asian carp as the invasive species, and the damages they cause, spread through Tennessee’s waterways.

Philanthropist Janet Ayers to give keynote address at APSU Spring Commencement on May 6th

 

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – Janet Ayers, a nationally recognized business leader and president of the philanthropic Ayers Foundation, will deliver the keynote address at Austin Peay State University’s 87th Spring Commencement on May 6th.

The Ayers Foundation was created in 1999 to sustain and/or significantly improve the quality of life in Tennessee. The organization accomplishes this mission through financial support for college scholarships, medical services for children, research into pre-cancer detection and diagnosis, continuing education for teachers, mental health research and other initiatives.

Olympic gold medal swimmer and heart survivor Dana Vollmer to speak at Go Red For Women Luncheon April 12th

 

Go Red for Women - American Red CrossNashville, TN – Olympic gold medal swimmer and heart survivor Dana Vollmer will be the keynote speaker at this year’s 10th Anniversary Go Red For Women Luncheon, to be held April 12th at Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center.

Vollmer had to overcome a potentially serious heart condition as a child, a disorder of the heart’s electrical activity, which had her mother accompanying her to swim meets armed with a defibrillator in case she went into cardiac arrest.

Reagan Giving Circle at APSU to have 1st Award Luncheon

The ceremony will be at 11:30am, Tuesday, May 1st in the Morgan University Center Ballroom. Tickets are $25.00 per person.
