Wisconsin rolls Tennessee Vols Basketball 68-48 at Thompson-Boling Arena

 

Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsKnoxville, TN – Offensive struggles troubled the Tennessee Vols basketball team, as Wisconsin’s hot shooting led the Badgers to a 68-48 win Saturday at Thompson-Boling Arena.
 
John Fulkerson and Jalen Johnson led the Vols with nine points apiece. Johnson’s nine points set a career-high, while his six rebounds tied a career-high. Making his first career start, Davonte Gaines scored six points and grabbed four rebounds.
 
Wisconsin, fueled by a combined 38 points from D’Mitrik Trice (21) and Brevin Pritzl (17), made 11 three-pointers during the contest, including seven in the first half.

Tennessee Vols Basketball returns to action Saturday taking on Wisconsin at Thompson-Boling Arena

Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsKnoxville, TN – The Tennessee Vols basketball team returns from its holiday break, when it takes on Wisconsin on Saturday afternoon inside Thompson-Boling Arena. Tipoff is slated for 12:30pm CT on CBS.

Saturday’s game can be seen on CBS and online through CBS Sports Live. The link to stream Saturday’s game online, through CBS can be found here. Carter Blackburn and Clark Kellogg will have the call.

Fans can also listen live on their local Vol Network affiliate to hear Bob Kesling and Bert Bertlekamp describing the action.

APSU Beach Volleyball begins season at New Orleans Invitational

APSU Women's VolleyballClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University beach volleyball team kicks off their sophomore season with a five-day southern state road swing.

The Governors will make the trek down to Covington, LA to compete in the New Orleans Invitational, with matches against New Orleans, Louisiana-Monroe, Houston Baptist, and fellow Ohio Valley Conference member, Jacksonville State.

APSU Governors Golf heads north to Badger Invitational

 

Austin Peay State University Governors Sports - APSUClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University men’s golf team will head north to play in its third straight tournament in as many weeks as it competes in the 54-hole Badger Invitational, Sunday-Tuesday, at the University Ridge Golf Course.

This will be the first time the Govs have appeared in the Wisconsin-hosted event. They will be one of 14 teams in the tourney. In fact, this is the first home event hosted by the Badgers since holding the Big Ten championship in 2005.

Govs fall in first FBS battle at Wisconsin

Austin Peay State University GovernorsMadison, WI – Austin Peay State University’s football team had few answers for nationally-ranked Wisconsin, falling 70-3 in non-conference action, Saturday afternoon, at Camp Randall Stadium.

Football Bowl Subdivision No. 10/11 Wisconsin (4-0) scored on all seven of its first-half possessions and accumulated 418 yards in the opening half, putting Austin Peay in a hole it could  not dig out of. The Badgers scored on each of their third-quarter drives before the Govs forced a punt on their first possession of the fourth-quarter.

Austin Peay Governors vs Wisconsin Badgers

Austin Peay State University GovernorsClarksville, TN – Wisconsin will be the first Big Ten opponent the Govs have played in University history. Saturday’s game will see the Governors play their second Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) team this season. The Govs, Football Championship Subdivision members of the Ohio Valley Conference, lost to Middle Tennessee, 56-33, September 11th. However, it will be the first time in school history the Govs will play a Bowl Championship Series (BCS) opponent.

This is the Governors’ fifth season in its return to playing scholarship football and fourth back in the OVC. Following the 1996 season, Austin Peay elected to forego scholarship football for a non-scholarship era that lasted from 1997 to 2005.

The 11:00am start at Wisconsin will be the Governors first morning start since they played an 11:00am contest at Valparaiso, September 23rd, 2000, during the program’s non-scholarship era. That was believed to be the first morning start in program history. «Read the rest of this article»

APSU-Wisconsin game set for 11:00am, kickoff on Big Ten Network

Austin Peay State University GovernorsMadison, WI – Austin Peay State University’s football game at Wisconsin, slated for Saturday, September 25th, has been confirmed for an 11:00am kickoff and will air live on the Big Ten Network from Camp Randall Stadium.

That was announced Monday by the Big Ten.

The contest marks the first meeting between the two schools. It also will be Austin Peay’s first game against a Big Ten Conference and Bowl Championship Series foe. The Badgers will be APSU’s second Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) opponent in three weeks. The Govs played Middle Tennessee last Saturday, losing 56-33.

Wisconsin owns a 2-0 record and will play host to Arizona State this Saturday while the Governors, 1-1, head to Nashville to play Tennessee State in a 6:00pm, start.
