Nashville Sounds pitcher Ross Detwiler throws strong in 7-5 win over Albuquerque Isotopes

 

Nashville SoundsAlbuquerque, NM – Left-hander Ross Detwiler tossed five strong innings in relief to help guide the Nashville Sounds to a 7-5 win over the Albuquerque Isotopes Wednesday night at Isotopes Park.

Fresh off being acquired in a trade with the Cleveland Indians, Detwiler limited the ‘Topes to one run in his five frames after starter Jesse Hahn went one inning in a planned shortened start.

When he entered in the second, the game was even at 0-0 but it didn’t stay that way for long. The first batter Detwiler faced – Ben Paulsen – clubbed a solo homer to right field to give Albuquerque (43-54) a 1-0 lead.

Nashville Sounds drop pair at Albuquerque Isotopes

 

Nashville SoundsAlbuquerque, NM – Despite getting home runs from Bryan Anderson, Bruce Maxwell, Chad Pinder and Joey Wendle, The Nashville Sounds were swept in Tuesday night’s doubleheader at Isotope Park.

Albuquerque went into the bottom of the sixth inning of game one trailing 5-4. After a lead-off single from Jordan Patterson, Tucker Healy replaced Sounds starter Brandon Mann. Healy then hit the first batter he faced in Alex Castellanos to put the go-ahead run on base.

David Dahl then pinch hit for Tim Smalling and roped a two-run triple to left to put the Isotopes up 6-5. Mike Tauchman then singled to left to score Dahl to add the insurance run to put Albuquerque up 7-5.

Nashville SoundsColorado Springs, CO – Catcher Matt Pagnozzi belted a pair of home runs and Eugenio Velez collected four RBIs to lead the Nashville Sounds to a 9-7 victory over the Colorado Springs Sky Sox on Friday evening at Security Service Field in the finale of a four-game series.

The Sounds (19-16) — who moved back into first place by a half-game over the Round Rock Express — plated seven unanswered runs at one point en route to the victory, which snapped the club’s four-game losing streak. Nashville’s nine runs marked a season high for the club.

Nashville (18-15), which committed a season-high six errors in the game that resulted in seven unearned Sky Sox runs, has dropped three straight contests for the first time since early April.

Nashville (18-14) fell into a tie for first place with Round Rock with the defeat. The Sounds are just 3-6 in series openers this season.

Nashville Sounds drop double-header to Colorado Springs Sky Sox

 

Nashville SoundsColorado Springs, Colorado – The Nashville Sounds never held a lead in either game of the team’s doubleheader against the Colorado Springs Sky Sox at Security Service Field Saturday evening, losing the opener 6-2 and the nightcap by a 4-2 margin.

In game one, the Sky Sox snapped a seven-game skid by hanging a 6-2 loss on the Sounds.

Colorado Springs right-hander Chris Volstad (6-4) worked a seven-inning complete game to earn his first victory since June. The veteran authored a quality start, holding the Sounds to two runs on seven hits in his seven frames, and helped his own cause with a go-ahead RBI single in the contest.

Nashville SoundsColorado Springs, CO – The Nashville Sounds broke away with a five-spot in the ninth inning to defeat the Colorado Sky Sox by a 6-1 margin Thursday night in the series opener at Security Service Field. The victory is Nashville’s ninth in their last 10 games.

The Sounds loaded the bases in the ninth before recording a hit in the inning, as Sean Halton walked, Hunter Morris reached on an error, and Blake Lalli on a sacrifice bunt fielder’s choice. Stephen Parker followed with a dribbler to first base which was misfielded by Ben Paulsen to allow the go-ahead run.
