Austin Peay State University GovernorsClarksville, TN – For the second consecutive week, Austin Peay’s baseball team will square off against the team sitting second in the Ohio Valley Conference standings when it hosts Jacksonville State in a three-game series.

The conference set will begin with a 6:00pm, Friday contest before resuming at 2:00pm, Saturday. The two squads will wrap the series with a 1:00pm, Sunday contest.

Austin Peay State University GovernorsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay’s baseball team continues its six-game road trip with a pair of midweek outings. First, the Govs travel to Tennessee for a 6:00pm (CT), Tuesday contest before a trip to Western Kentucky for a 6:00pm (CT), Wednesday meeting.

It will be the fourth time in the last five seasons Austin Peay and Tennessee have met, UT holding a 3-1 edge in those contests.

Austin Peay Governors Baseball’s Reed Harper named Ohio Valley Conference Co-Player of the Week

 

Ohio Valley ConferenceReed HarperBrentwood, TN – Austin Peay State University junior shortstop Reed Harper has been named the adidas Ohio Valley Conference Co-Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.

Harper, of Clarksville (Clarksville HS), led the Govs with a .500 batting average (6-of-12) and six RBI during their 2-1 OVC series victory at Eastern Kentucky last weekend. Ohio Valley ConferenceJackson, TN – No. 1 seed Austin Peay topped Jacksonville State 7-3 on Saturday to capture the 2011 Ohio Valley Conference Baseball Championship.

It marks the fourth tournament championship for the Governors (33-22), who have also won titles in 1996, 2005 and 2007.

Austin Peay State University GovernorsJacksonville, AL – Behind a pair of strong pitching performances, Austin Peay State University’s baseball team found itself with the opportunity to grab a sweep of Saturday’s Ohio Valley Conference doubleheader against Jacksonville State but will have to wonder what could have been as it settled for a split – winning the opener, 9-5, before losing the nightcap, 5-4, at Rudy Abbott Field.
