November County Unemployment Rates Improve in more than One-Third of Tennessee Counties

Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce DevelopmentNashville, TN – Unemployment dropped in more than one-third of Tennessee’s 95 counties in November, according to newly released data from the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development (TDLWD).

Unemployment remained the same in November, as it was in October, at 3.4 percent for Montgomery County.

U.S. SenateNashville, TN – It’s been a busy August in Tennessee! It has been a delight to visit nearly 40 different counties in the Volunteer State! Here’s a bit of what I’ve been working on lately.

In Marion County, I met with the Sequachee Valley Electric Cooperative to learn how they are working on bringing broadband to unserved areas. Earlier this year, I introduced the bipartisan Internet Exchange Act, which will help improve internet access for consumers and expand rural broadband services. The sad truth is that many of our rural areas aren’t underserved–they’re unserved. It is time to change that.

Tennessee County Unemployment Rates Increase in July

 

Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce DevelopmentNashville, TN – The Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development (TDLWD) released data that shows July 2019 county unemployment increased in counties across the state.

Montgomery County unemployment in July was 4.8 percent up 0.4 percent from June’s 4.4 percent.

Tennessee Department of Education releases 2019 TNReady Results

 

Tennessee Department of EducationNashville, TN –  The Tennessee Department of Education Commissioner Penny Schwinn has released the TNReady assessment results which indicates that students across the state are performing better in almost all math subjects. 

The TNReady scores also show that more than half the schools in Tennessee – 56 percent – improved their growth scores (TVAAS scores) from the previous year, with 41 percent of all schools earning a level 4 or 5 TVAAS rating which measures year-to-year growth.

Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce DevelopmentNashville, TN – Newly released unemployment data from the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development (TDLWD) showed that vast majority of Tennessee’s 95 counties experienced lower unemployment rates in September 2018, when compared to the previous month.

Montgomery County unemployment rate was 4.1 percent in September, down 0.3 percent from August’s 4.6 percent.
