U.S. Army Corps of Engineers reassigning control of Lock C to Fort Campbell

 

U.S. Army Corps of EngineersNashville, TN – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District is in the process of reassigning the Lock C site to the U.S. Army Garrison at Fort Campbell, Kentucky.

The Lock C site has historically been used by the Army to transport equipment on the Cumberland River. In 2018, the Corps issued a permit to Fort Campbell for the purpose of loading and unloading barges along the shoreline of a 14.64-acre portion of the site.

LBL Closes Fenton Campground Indefinitely

 

Land Between the Lakes - LBLGolden Pond, KY – Land Between The Lakes closed Fenton Campground for camping until further notice. The emergency decision came after assessing the damage from the storm that passed through the area Friday morning, April 4th, 2014.

Clarksville Parks and Recreation reports McGregor Park Boat Ramp Temporarily Closed for Repair

 

Clarksville Parks and RecreationClarksville, TN – Due to a recurrence of concrete settling from flood damage in May, the McGregor Park boat ramp is temporarily closed for repair. The boat ramps at Liberty Park and Trice Landing are open and available for public use.

The Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department asks that boaters utilize these boat ramps for river access at this time.

Clarksville Parks and Recreation reports Trice Landing Park to reopen

 

Clarksville Parks and RecreationClarksville, TN – Trice Landing Park, located at 99 Oak Street, reopened Monday. The boat ramp and dock will remain closed but the park area will be open for public use.

Land Between the Lakes encourages Alternatives to Fenton Boat Launch Area

 

Land Between the LakesGolden Pond, KY – While the Fenton Boat Launch Area is closed, Land Between The Lakes (LBL) National Recreation Area encourages boaters to substitute Sugar Bay Backcountry Area north of Fenton and Redd Hollow Backcountry Area south of Fenton for boat launching.

There are currently 10 boat ramps on LBL that provide public access to Kentucky Lake–three in Tennessee and seven in Kentucky.  Sugar Bay and Redd Hollow are the closest alternative ramps to Fenton. «Read the rest of this article»

Liberty Park Boat Ramp to open Memorial Day Weekend

 

Clarksville Parks and RecreationClarksville, TN – The Clarksville Parks & Recreation Department will open a portion of Liberty Park for Memorial Day Weekend.  The brand new, four-lane boat ramp and two boat docks will be open Saturday, May 28th, through Monday, May 30th, from 7:00am to 8:00pm, as well as every following Saturday and Sunday.

High Waters at Cumberland City

 

Cumberland CityCumberland City, TN – Traveling down Hwy 149 to Cumberland City, the effects of the severe storms and flooding are clearly visible. Some roads, such as Hematite Road, are flooded and un-passable.

The Cumberland City area, was hit hard by last year’s flood. After the recent rains ended, and the Cumberland River started to rise once again, the owner of the Busy Bee Market, Cindy Hook decided she was taking no chances. So she removed all of the merchandise from the Market and moved to a secure location. Everything that could be moved was moved. Looking in the building, all you can see left are empty coolers.

37th Annual Camper’s Fair Returns to LBL’s Piney Campground

 

Land Between the LakesGolden Pond, KY – This is no ordinary weekend camping trip! Set up your campsite at Piney Campground’s 37th Annual Camper’s Fair, September 15th-19th, and enjoy a variety of activities including arts, crafts, and evening entertainment. Piney is located in Tennessee on the south end of Land Between The Lakes (LBL) National Recreation Area.

Piney is open to the public at no admission fee, Saturday, September 18th, from 8:00am-4:00pm and Sunday, September 19th, from 10:00am-2:00pm, for the open house. Displays of camping equipment, RVs, and boats will be provided by area dealers. Piney campers are invited to bring arts and crafts to display at the flea market. Closures for Independence Day Celebration

 

The City of Clarksville wants to inform citizens as of noon on Friday, July 2nd, the boat ramp, courtesy dock and lower parking lot at McGregor Park will be closed to the public.  The upper parking lot will close Saturday, July 3rd at 7:30am.  Any vehicles left in these two lots after they are closed will be towed.

Also, from 3:00pm to 8:30pm on Friday, July 3rd, Riverside Drive will only be open for two way traffic and then closed off entirely from 8:30pm to 10:15pm.
