Clarksville Police charge Mary Lancaster in July 2018 Fatality Crash

Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville, TN – Clarksville Police Department’s Fatal Accident Crash Team Investigator have charged a woman in a fatality crash occurring in July 2018.

The first fatality crash involved a car versus motorcycle and occurred July 16th, 2018, around 11:50am. Mary Lancaster, 77, driving a 2017 Chevrolet Traverse was traveling south on Wilma Rudolph Boulevard and attempted to make a left turn into South Hampton Place.

The Clarksville Police Fatal Accident Crash Team has charged Mary Lancaster for the death of Austin McWhite that occurred July 16th, 2018.

Clarksville Police release additional information on Fatality Crash at South Hampton Drive and Wilma Rudolph Boulevard

Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville, TN – On Monday, July 16th, 2018 around 11:46am, a 2017 Chevrolet Traverse, operated by Mary Lancaster, age 77, out of Pembroke KY, was traveling south on Wilma Rudolph Boulevard.

A 1999 Triumph 955i motorcycle, operated by Austin McWhite, age 23, a Fort Campbell solider, was traveling north on Wilma Rudolph Boulevard.

Clarksville Police continue to investigate the crash at South Hampton Drive and Wilma Rudolph Boulevard in front of the Governors Square Mall.

AAA reports New Vehicle Infotainment Systems Create Increased Distractions Behind the Wheel

 

AAAWashington, D.C. – New vehicle infotainment systems take drivers’ eyes and attention off the road and hands off the wheel for potentially dangerous periods of time, according to new research from the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety.

Drivers using in-vehicle technologies like voice-based and touch screen features were visually and mentally distracted for more than 40 seconds when completing tasks like programming navigation or sending a text message.

General Motors recalls over 680,000 vehicles because open liftgate may fall

 

National Highway Traffic Safety Administration - NHTSAWashington, D.C. – General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2008-2012 Buick Enclave vehicles manufactured January 3rd, 2007, to February 29th, 2012, 2009-2012 Chevrolet Traverse vehicles manufactured July 6th, 2008, to February 29th, 2012, 2007-2012 GMC Acadia vehicles manufactured September 15th, 2006, to February 29th, 2012, and 2007-2010 Saturn Outlook vehicles manufactured August 17th, 2006, to March 18th, 2010.

The affected vehicles, equipped with the power liftgate option, have gas struts that hold the power liftgate up when open. These struts may prematurely wear and the open liftgate may suddenly fall.

Chrysler vehicles getting better, but level of improvement varies considerably

 

Consumer ReportsYonkers, NY – Consumer Reports’ tests of eight Chrysler vehicles revealed the automakers’ cars are getting better, but their level of improvement varies considerably.

The Dodge Durango and Charger, which received significant redesigns, have improved the most. Both the V6 and V8 tested versions of the Durango SUV received “Very Good” road test scores which now makes them comparable with the redesigned 2011 Ford Explorer. However, they score well below rivals like the Toyota Highlander and the Chevrolet Traverse. The Charger Rallye also received a “Very Good” road test score and now ranks close to the Ford Taurus and Buick LaCrosse.
