Austin Peay State University’s Community School of the Arts offers new $5.00/hour class rate, adds Expert Dance Instructor

 

Austin Peay State University Community School for the ArtsClarksville, TN – The Community School of the Arts (CSA) at Austin Peay State University is excited to announce a new financial model, using sponsorships from local community members and organizations to dramatically reduce the cost of CSA classes to just $5.00 per hour, making them more affordable to the community.

For example, the eight-week beginning guitar class that was previously $150.00 is now just $40.00. A 12-week ballet course that was $300.00 is now only $120.00.

Clarksville to dedicate ‘Tennessee Triumph’ Suffrage Statue on August 15th

 

Visit Clarksville TennesseeClarksville, TN – Tennessee holds a special place in passing the 19th Amendment into law, extending voting rights to women.

We were the final state needed for ratification, and our legislators came through with a two-vote victory margin on August 18th, 1920, with the law becoming effective eight days later.

Clarksville-Montgomery County Arts & Heritage Development Council invites Organizations to Apply for ABC Grants to Fund Arts Activities

 

Clarksville Arts and Heritage Development CouncilClarksville, TN – The Clarksville-Montgomery County Arts & Heritage Development Council invites organizations seeking funding for artistic and cultural projects that benefit the community to apply for an Arts Build Communities grant. Projects which address COVID-19 Coronavirus recovery through the arts are encouraged, though not required.

Arts Build Communities is a program funded by the Tennessee Arts Commission and administered by the Clarksville Arts & Heritage Development Council in cooperation with the Tennessee Arts Commission. ABC grants offer financial support for arts projects in all disciplines such as dance, music, opera/musical theatre, theatre, visual arts, design arts, crafts, photography, media arts, literature, interdisciplinary and folk arts.

Celebrating a Tennessee Triumph: New monument to honor Clarksville’s suffragists

 

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – On a July afternoon in 1914, more than 75 people crowded into a house on Madison Street for a meeting of the newly established Clarksville Equal Suffrage League.

The women who joined the league that afternoon spent the next six years facing ridicule and threats of violence in the pursuit of their goal – earning women the right to vote.
