APSU Men's BasketballClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU) men’s basketball team looked like it was in the driver’s seat for a huge Ohio Valley Conference win until Dylan Windler intervened.

The Belmont junior and 2019 OVC Preseason Player of the Year scored 22 of his game-high 33 points in the second half as the Bruins rallied to hand the Govs their first home loss since the 2018 finale, a 96-92 donnybrook between two of the OVC’s best programs.

APSU Governors Basketball bolster backcourt with signing of high-scoring St. Louis prep star

 

Austin Peay State University Governors Sports - APSUClarksvillle, TN – Guard Josh Robinson, who was the second-leading scorer in the St. Louis Metro area in the 2012-13 season, has signed a national letter of intent to play basketball at Austin Peay State University.

The 6-3, 180-pound Robinson averaged 25.4 ppg as a junior for St. Mary’s High School, shooting 49 percent from the floor (234 of 477) and 33 percent (49 of 150) from three-point range.

Austin Peay State University Men’s Basketball fortifies backcourt adding Fred Garmon as new Point Guard

 

Austin Peay State University Governors SportsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University men’s basketball continued to fortify its backcourt by adding 5-11 point guard Fred Garmon, who played the last two seasons at Mineral Area Junior College in Park Hills, MO.

As a freshman, the Kennett, Mo., native averaged 7.1 points per game along 4.3 assists and 2.1 steals at Mineral Area. A torn meniscus interrupted his sophomore season and then shortly after returning, he incurred a deep bone bruise to the same knee when he collided with an opponent. Although his overall numbers shrank (4.9 ppg, 4.0 apg in 14 games), he still was able to help lead the Cardinals to a 26-8 record, a Region XVI title as well as a berth in the 2013 NJCAA National Tournament.

Austin Peay State University GovernorsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University men’s basketball team has added to its backcourt and frontcourt with a pair of prep signings for the 2012-13 season as the early recruiting period opened, Wednesday.

Cory Arentsen, a 6-5, 185-pound guard from Mater Dei High School in Breese, IL, and Preston Herring, a 6-7 forward from West Limestone High School in Lester, AL, have signed national letters of intent to play basketball for the Govs.

Basketball Governors add backcourt and frontcourt depth with recent signees

Austin Peay State University GovernorsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University men’s basketball team has added to its backcourt and frontcourt depth in signing a pair of players for the 2011-12 season.

Jerome Clyburn, a 6-1, 180-pound point guard from Santa Fee Community College in Gainesville, FL, and Chris Freeman, a 6-6, 210-pound forward from Muhlenberg High School in Greenville, KY, have signed letters of intent to play for the Governors.

Clyburn, an Orange Park, FL, native who originally played at Southern Mississippi out of high school, averaged 13 points per game, shooting 53 percent from the floor, and 4.2 assists and 1.9 steals per game in his one season with Santa Fe. He was named to the All Mid-Florida first-team.
